A legendary Chinese paintingHave yu heard abut a wrld-famus landscape painting named Dwelling in the Fuchun Muntains? It was painted by Huang Gngwang, ne f the Fur Masters f the Yuan dynasty. Many experts think it is amng the greatest masterpieces in Chinese art histry. The stry behind this painting is als very unusual.Huang was almst eighty years ld when he began wrking n Dwelling in the Fuchun Muntains. He first made a rugh drawing f the whle painting in ne sitting. Over the fllwing years, he then added parts t it whenever he was in the md. The final painting was almst seven metres lng and it was given t a friend as a present. Dwelling in the Fuchun Muntains shws the beauty f the cuntryside f Jiangnan. The painting takes us n a breathtaking jurney in the muntains. Alng the way, we fllw narrw paths, crss wden bridges and pass alng a wide river. If we lk carefully, we can see peple far away in the landscape. Sme wdsmen are hidden amng the trees. On the river, there is a man sitting alne n a bat. He is fishing. It lks like he is at ne with nature, and we feel the same when we lk at the painting. Dwelling in the Fuchun Muntains was such an amazing painting that it was cpied by hundreds f artists. The riginal painting changed wners many times. One f the wners liked it s much that he even put it next t himself while sleeping and eating.Smetime arund 1650, smething terrible happened: the famus painting was damaged by fire, and it was split int tw pieces. The tw parts went their separate ways. In the fllwing centuries, they each experienced many dramatic events. One f them even became part f the Qianlng Emperr’s art cllectin! In 2011, after mre than 300 years f separatin, the tw parts f the legendary painting were at last shwn tgether in ne exhibitin.
