My favrite activity is playing, watching, reading, and really anything t d with basketball. A basketball curt (球场) is where I feel mst at hme.
As I see it, it’s wildly ppular in the US and its athletes are extremely recgnizable, because it’s the ne sprt where an athlete’s face is nt cvered up by a ftball helmet (头盔) r baseball hat. My favrite time and place is anywhere and anytime. I prefer indrs, althugh it can be played utdrs. Many peple ften play in a driveway at hme, but the best is always against smene n a curt.
I started playing basketball because f my favrite player, Shaquille O’Neal. He was a huge, unstppable player. When I was 11 years ld, I decided t g utside t the family basketball hp (球框) and take a sht (投球). This was my first time ever shting a basketball. I will never frget the first sht I ever tk. It was perfect. It felt amazing! And I’ve been in lve with this sprt ever since!
I learned a lng time ag that very few peple are ging t have the lve f this game that I d. I’ve always understd that in this area, fr the mst part, I am alne. Especially cming frm the state f Texas, where ftball is king.
I’m nt the best f players. When I d gd things n curt I knw it’s because I can make up fr my lack (缺乏) f athleticism by being a student f the game. I’ve never missed a training day. I dn’t wrry abut schl, family, r prblems. I think abut what’s in frnt f me, and hw I can get the basketball in the hp.
Playing, watching, and reading abut basketball fills me with a sense f enjyment that I truly d feel that very few peple can match.
      4. What des the authr think f basketball?

Frm the title “The Jys f Cllege”, yu prbably think yu’re abut t read a piece f satire (讽刺作品) abut hw “awesme” cllege is. After all, cllege can be very demanding -a muntain lad f assignments all due at the same time, 10-plus page papers, and difficult exams. I get it. But actually, the title isn’t satirical at all. Sure, cllege is really stressful and there are sme aspects I dn’t like. But fr nce, I’d like t fcus n the psitives f being a cllege student.
The first thing I truly enjy abut being a cllege student is that I get t take classes that actually interest me. It isn’t like high schl where yu’re frced t take the same cre classes as everyne else because f the district curriculum. In cllege, learning desn’t feel like a task t me anymre because I actually get t design my schedule t my interests.
Besides, there are s many different fields t study. We have many fields f departments (学院) that aren’t ffered at ther universities, such as Japanese. There are als many interesting classes that can be taken just fr fun -classes abut anime, the hrrr genre, and even witchery. There are s many pprtunities t learn abut tpics unrelated t yur majr.
The cmmunity at the University is als very imprtant t me. We are all suffering here but we are all suffering tgether. The cllege experience is s much mre bearable due t this cmmunity. I knw I can express myself t any fellw cllege student abut the stress my assignments are causing and they will always understand.
The fun activities and clubs are als a plus. The campus carnivals, hliday markets, and cncerts give us smething t lk frward t as we struggle ur way thrugh ur classes. And the club activities - like the Campus Times - make cllege life all the mre exciting.
Hwever, my mst favrite part f being a cllege student is that I persnally like the idea f being able t enjy life withut wrrying abut t many expenses. My lan payments are a prblem fr the future me. And nt having t g thrugh the stress f jb interviews just yet is als very relieving.
S althugh there are a lt f negatives f cllege, there are als a lt f psitives. I knw that when I graduate, I’m ging t miss being a cllege student.
      8. What is the first thing that the authr really enjyed abut being a cllege student?

      D. It has many curses that aren’t ffered at ther universities.
      10. What makes the cllege life mre exciting?

      C. The club activities.D. Unique pprtunities.
      11. What des the underlined wrd “relieving” in paragraph 6 refer t?
      A. Strange.B. Special.C. Wrrying.D. Relaxing.
      D
It is said that mst peple have n mre than 30 friends at any given time, and 400 ver the whle f their lives. Hwever, n scial netwrking sites, mst users have abut 150 friends. If these numbers are crrect, then friendship means different things in different situatins.
Als, there are n rules abut friendship. There is n instructin in making friends, maintaining friendship, and finishing friendship if we want t mve n. Peple have very different pinins abut this: sme peple wuld die fr their friends and they value them mre than families. Others say that friends are temprary (暂时的), and nly there t help each ther until they are n lnger needed. If peple with thse different views becme friends, this can lead t prblems.
Because f these different definitins (定义) f friendship, it is easy t be unhappy abut ur friendship. We may want it t be deeper r clser, r we may want t acquire mre friends in ur lives. Smetimes we simply d nt have the time t develp ur friendship, r we fear we have left it t late in life t start. If we mve t anther cuntry r city, we have t find ways t make new friends again.
This dissatisfactin (不满) shws us hw significant friendship is fr mst f us. We shuld nt think that it culd be t late t build friendship. We als need t understand that the need t be arund ther peple is ne that is shared by mst peple. Therefre, we shuld nt be t frightened f starting t talk t peple wh in the future may becme ur friends: it is likely that they wuld like t get clser t us t. Remember what peple say: strangers are friends we have nt met yet.
      12. What’s the authr’s purpse in listing the numbers in Paragraph 1?
      A. T explain the reasn.
      B. T intrduce the tpic.
      C. T shw the ways f making friends.
      D. T persuade readers t make mre friends.
      13. What is the main idea f Paragraph 2?
      A. There is a rule abut making friends.
      B. Peple with different views can becme friends.
C Friendship means different things t different peple.
      D. Sme peple wuld die fr their friends if they need t d that.
      14. What can we learn frm the passage?
      A. Mst f us need t have friends.
      B. Mst f us build friendship late in life.
      C. Mst f us are dissatisfied with ur friends.
      D. Mst f us are frightened f talking t peple.
      15. What is the authr’s attitude twards talking t a stranger?
      A. Uninterested.B. Objective.C. Dubtful.D. Psitive.
