2. T prmte the students’ ability f slving prblems by using what they’ve learned.
教学过程
Step 1 Warming-up & Lead-in:
Ss get t knw Linlin’s prblem and think abut hw t cmfrt her.
Ss knw what they need t learn in the class t ffer help when thers are in truble.
Teaching purpses: Using the driving questin (POA) t raise students’ interest and lead in the tpic; invlve mre students in the tpic and activate the students’ mtivatin t slve the real prblem.
Step 2 Pre-reading: Predict
Ss get t knw Peter and predict what the passage is ging t talk abut with the help f picture and title.
Teaching purpses: Develp the students’ ability f viewing and predicting by bserving the pictures and reading the title. Raise the students’ interest f checking their predictin in later reading.
Step 3 While-reading:
1. Scan
Ss get t knw the main idea and lgical plt f the passage.
Ss divide the passage int three parts with different scenes and get the main infrmatin.
Teaching purpses: Help students better understand the passage with reading strategies, like reading fr the lgical plt and finding ut the changes f scenes.
2. Careful reading
Scene 1. Peter’s feelings
Ss read this part and find ut Peter’s feelings and the reasns.
Ss read between the lines t get Peter’s feelings and the meanings f idims.
Scene 2. Advice frm Peter’s father
Ss find ut Peter’s father’s advice and infer his characters.
Ss evaluate Peter’s father’s advice and think f mre ideas fr Peter.
Ss infer what Peter was thinking and what he wuld d the next day.
Scene 3. Encuragement frm Peter’s teammates
Ss check what Peter did the next day.
Ss read the last part and find ut Peter’s teammates’ reactins and tell Peter’s final feelings.
Ss infer what a winning team shuld be with the infrmatin they’ve learned.
Teaching purpses: Cultivate students' ability f reading cmprehensin by reading between the lines t infer characters’ persnalities and true intentins. Als, mtivate students’ critical thinking and creative thinking by evaluating Peter’s father’s advice and cming up with new advice. Besides, develp students’ ability f cnclusin by integrating related infrmatin.
Step 3 Pst-reading:
1. Cnclude
Ss cnclude Peter’s feeling changes with the develpment f the experience.
Ss number the main events and match them in the plt diagram.
Ss understand it was Peter’s father’s advice that made Peter change his mind.
2. Create
Ss create the pssible cnversatin between Peter and his father.
Ss shuld mind the difference f behaving like a father and a sn.
3. Summarize
Ss make a summary f what a winning team shuld be like with what they’ve learnt in class and their wn pinins.
Teaching purpses: Cnslidate what they have learned in the passage and pave the way fr the further applicatin in anther real-life situatin.
4. Advise
Ss write an email t cheer up Linlin with what they’ve learned in class.
Ss shuld use the idims r phrases they’ve learnt and be understanding and patient.
Then, write in the frm f a letter.
Teaching purpses: Guide students t use the language that they have learned in the class t ask fr a date. Guide students t cnnect their wn experiences with what they have learned tday. Cultivate their ability f slving prblems in real-life situatins.
Step 4 Hmewrk:
Level A. Finish yur letter t Linlin and give her sme advice.
Level B. Share ne f yur mistakes and talk abut what yu’ve learnt frm it.
