A Tuching Tale f Lve and Secnd Chances
The Seven Trials f Xingxing is a deeply mving web nvel that blends fantasy, emtin, and the unbreakable bnd between a mther and child. The stry fllws Xingxing, a kind-hearted yung wman whse life is cut shrt when she dies herically while saving thers. Struck by her selflessness, the King f the Underwrld ffers her an extrardinary pprtunity — if she can pass seven trials, and if her grieving mther can recgnize her in each ne, she will be granted a secnd chance at life.
Xingxing’s mther is devastated by her daughter’s sudden death, clinging t memries f her laughter and warmth. Unbeknwnst t her, Xingxing’s spirit is given seven different frms, each time returning t the mrtal wrld t interact with her mther in a new way. The trials are designed t be difficult: Xingxing might appear as a wunded bird seeking shelter, a lst child asking fr help, r even a fading vice in a dream. Each encunter is fleeting, and her mther must sense the truth beneath the disguise.
The first few trials are heartbreaking. Xingxing, desperate t be recgnized, tries t leave subtle clues — humming a lullaby her mther used t sing, leaving a star-shaped mark(a nd t her name), r speaking in a familiar way. But grief cluds her mther’s perceptin, and she fails t see the truth. As the trials prgress, Xingxing grws weaker, her spirit fading with each failed attempt.
Meanwhile, her mther begins experiencing strange mments f déjà vu — a feeling that Xingxing is still with her. She starts nticing small signs: a warmth in the air when a butterfly lands n her hand, a whisper in the wind that sunds like her daughter’s vice. Yet dubt hlds her back.
By the seventh trial, Xingxing is nearly ut f time. This time, she appears in a frm clsest t her true self — a reflectin in a rain puddle, a fleeting shadw. Her mther, kneeling in srrw, suddenly feels an verwhelming presence. She lks up, and in that mment, their eyes meet — nt with physical sight, but with the heart.
“Xingxing?” she whispers, tears streaming dwn her face.
That single wrd breaks the spell. The King f the Underwrld, witnessing this pure lve, declares the trial cmplete. Xingxing is rebrn, reunited with her mther in an emtinal climax that underscres the nvel’s central message: lve transcends even death.
This nvel is mre than just a fantasy — it’s a meditatin n grief, hpe, and the invisible threads that bind families tgether. Readers are left with a pwerful questin: Wuld we recgnize ur lved nes if they returned t us in anther frm?
With its blend f magical realism and deep emtinal weight, The Seven Trials f Xingxing is a stry that stays with yu lng after the last page. It reminds us that true lve is nt just seen — it is “felt”.
      24. What was the main reasn the King f the Underwrld gave Xingxing a secnd chance?
      A. Because she had unfinished business in the human wrld.
      B. Because he was impressed by her selfless act f saving thers.
      C. Because her mther begged him t revive her daughter.
      D. Because all heric suls autmatically get this pprtunity.
      25. Hw did Xingxing try t cmmunicate her identity t her mther during the trials?
      A. By directly telling her mther wh she really was.
      B. By using familiar sngs and meaningful symbls.
      C. By writing messages that nly her mther culd read.
      D. By appearing exactly as she lked befre death.
      26. What prevented Xingxing’s mther frm recgnizing her immediately?
      A. The King f the Underwrld actively blcked her perceptin.
      B. The different frms Xingxing tk were t extreme t recgnize.
      C. Her verwhelming grief made it hard t see the truth.
      D. Xingxing wasn’t allwed t give any clues abut her identity.
      27. What is the central message cnveyed by the stry’s climax?

Recently, a new study, cnducted by the University f Gergia, fund that encuraging children with respnses related t their persnal characteristics r inbrn abilities might weaken their math mtivatin and achievement ver time.
Parents wh make cmments linking their children’s perfrmance t persnal characteristics like intelligence are using what’s referred t as persn respnses. In cntrast, parents wh link their children’s actins, such as effrts r strategy use, t their perfrmance are using prcess respnses.
Fr the study, researchers asked mre than 500 parents t reprt n hw they respnded t their children’s math perfrmance and their math beliefs and gals. Children were assessed in tw waves acrss a year t measure their math mtivatin and achievement.
The results shw that parents wh view math ability as changeable are mre likely t give prcess respnses fcused n their children’s strategy use and effrts rather than their intelligence r ther persnal characteristics. In cntrast, parents wh believe math ability is unchangeable and that math failure can’t be cnstructive give mre persn respnses. Parents with high expectatins fr their children give a cmbinatin f bth respnses. While respnses highlighting strategy and effrts are nt related t any achievement utcmes, children wh receive mre respnses abut their persnal characteristics -- in particular, related t failure -- are mre likely t avid harder math prblems, exhibit higher levels f math anxiety, and scre lwer n math achievement tests.
Because persn respnses predict pr math adjustment in children ver time, researchers suggest parents limit this type f respnses at hme. Anther recmmendatin fr parents is t think abut their wn beliefs and gals fr their kids and examine hw these might lead them t respnd in persn r prcess ways. Simply telling parents t avid talking abut math ability may nt be enugh. Fcusing less n hw children perfrm and mre n their strategy and enjyment f math might be a mre effective way t enhance mtivatin.
