      1.Students will memrize irregular cmparative frms (especially irregular adjectives).
      2.Students will master the usage f mdifiers (much,a little,even) t emphasize cmparative degrees.

      Step 1 Review & Lead-in
      Play a vide f the winter in Hainan and Harbin. Ask students t watch and then answer the questins.
      T:Which cities are mentined in the vide? Which seasn des it shw abut?
      S1:The radi shws Hainan and Harbin. It's abut winter.
      T:Are there any differences f winter in the tw cities?
      S2:Harbin is clder than Hainan.

      Step 2 Grammar(3a)

      1.Ask students t read the sentences and pay attentin t the cmparatives in bld. Then find mre examples in Sectin A f the textbk.
      2.Ask students t bserve the bld wrds and explre the frmatin rules f adjective cmparatives thrugh these examples,as well as when t use cmparatives (grup wrk).
      3.Prvide additinal language usages nt mentined in the textbk.
      (When students share the answers,the teacher writes key pints n the blackbard. If necessary,crrect their mistakes at the same time.)

      S1:Guangzhu is ver 7,000 square kilmetres in area.
      S2:Vancuver is in Canada.
      2.Ask students t study the chart and cmplete the sentences.
      T:This chart lists facts abut the tw cities. Nw,let's cmpare Guangzhu and Vancuver using the wrds in the bx and the cnjunctin “than”.

      2.Grup leaders draw a nte,and grup members discuss its cntent,trying t create cmparative sentences within 5 minutes.
      3.Each grup sends a representative t present in dialgue frm. Fr example:A states Feature 1,and B states Feature 2.
      4.The teacher cmments n the accuracy and creativity f the sentences and summarizes cmparisn techniques.

      形容词和副词比较级的变化规律
      单音节词和部分双音节词,词尾直接加-er
      tall-taller fast-faster
      以字母e结尾的单音节词和部分双音节词,词尾加-r
      nice-nicer late-later
      以“辅音字母+y”结尾的双音节词,把y改为i,再加-er
      happy-happier early-earlier
      以重读闭音节结尾,末尾只有一个辅音字母时,先双写该辅音字母,再加-er
      big-bigger ht-htter
      部分双音节词和多音节词,在词前加mre
      beautiful-mre beautiful
      carefully-mre carefully
      不规则变化
      gd/well-better bad/badly-wrse
      many/much-mre little-less
      far-father/further
      用法:
      比较级+than
      as+形容词或副词原形+as
      比较级修饰语:much,far,even,a little,a bit…
