Step 1: Review (5 minutes)
1. Ask and answer questins abut the reading passage Tny’s Leadership Prblem t review the main cntent:
- Q1: What prblem did Tny meet as a drama directr?
- Q2: What advice did Ms White give t Tny?
2. Invite 3-4 students t answer rally and lead in the grammar pints frm the advice sentences in the passage.
Step 2: Lead-in (7 minutes)
1. Ask students simple questins abut teamwrk prblems t aruse interest:
- Q1: What will yu d if yur team members disagree with yu?
- Q2: What rules d yu have t fllw in a team?
2. Extract 4 key sentences frm the textbk reading and write them n the blackbard:
① Yu shuld discuss the matter with Lisa.
② Yu shuldn’t be afraid f making mistakes.
③ Yu have t take yur respnsibility as a leader.
④ Yu dn’t have t deal with all the prblems yurself.
3. Ask students t read the sentences alud and find the differences between the fur mdal verb structures, guide them t ntice the cllcatin with base verbs.
Step 3: Grammar Rules (8 minutes)
1. Divide students int grups f 4, let them discuss and summarize the usages and structures f the fur mdal verbs accrding t the sentences n the blackbard.
2. Invite grup representatives t share their summaries, the teacher supplements and srts ut the frmal rules n the blackbard:
- shuld/shuldn’t + d: Give suggestins/advice (fr teamwrk/daily life)
- have t/dn’t have t + d: State smething is necessary/unnecessary (bligatin/nn-bligatin)
3. The teacher explains simple usage tips: shuld is fr subjective advice, have t is fr bjective bligatin.
Step 4: Basic Practice (6 minutes)
1. Let students finish the textbk grammar exercises (sentence transfrmatin and blank filling) individually:
- Transfrm active advice sentences int nes with shuld/shuldn’t.
- Fill in the blanks with have t/dn’t have t accrding t the cntext.
2. Students check answers with their partners, then the teacher checks the key answers with the whle class and explains the wrng-prne pints.
Step 5: Teamwrk Advice Practice (7 minutes)
1. Ask students t cmplete the teamwrk scenari exercises with the crrect frm f the fur mdal verbs (verbs in brackets) individually, then check with partners.
2. Grup discussin (4 students a grup):
- Q1: What rules d we have t fllw in a grup prject?
- Q2: What advice shuld we give t a team leader wh is nervus abut making decisins?
3. Encurage students t share their ideas, the teacher cmments and guides them t use the grammar pints crrectly.
Step 6: Grup Wrk: Give Advice fr Team Prblems (7 minutes)
1. Review the cmmn teamwrk prblems (disagreement, shirking respnsibility, pr cmmunicatin) with students.
2. Students wrk in pairs: Chse ne teamwrk prblem frm the textbk, make a mind map f advice with shuld/shuldn’t and bligatin rules with have t/dn’t have t.
3. Pairs shw their mind maps and give ral advice t the whle class, using the mdal verb structures flexibly.
4. The teacher gives psitive cmments and crrects minr grammar mistakes in their expressins.
Step 7: Design a Team Rule Pster (3 minutes)
1. Guide students t design a simple team rule pster fr class grup activities, using the fur mdal verb structures.
2. Prvide a sentence pattern fr reference:
- We shuld cmmunicate with each ther in time.
- We shuldn’t give up easily.
- We have t finish ur wn tasks n time.
- We dn’t have t d everything by urselves.
3. Invite 2-3 students t share their simple pster cntent rally.
Step 8: Summary (2 minutes)
1. The teacher and students summarize the grammar pints tgether:
- The fur cre structures: shuld/shuldn’t/have t/dn’t have t + base verb.
- Key usages: shuld/shuldn’t fr advice, have t/dn’t have t fr bligatin/nn-bligatin.
2. Emphasize the difficult pint: Distinguish the usages and use them flexibly in teamwrk cmmunicatin.
