(2024广州一模 D篇)There's a classic shrt stry in which a yung man travels years ahead and meets his future self. Narratives like this have always been related t science fictin. But what if yu culd meet yur future self?
I'm a psychlgist and prfessr. My research ver the past 15 years isn't far frm this theme. I've largely fcused n hw peple think abut and relate t their future selves, and explred the reasns why we have such a hard time making lng-term decisins. In my research, I've learnt that we ften imagine ur future selves like strangers, which can impede us in making lng-term chices. One way t bridge the emtinal gap is t think f future selves in mre cncrete and vivid ways, like writing letters t and frm ne's future self, which can strengthen the cnnectin between current and future selves.
Admittedly, having peple engage in an imagined cnversatin is a far cry frm actually meeting ne's future self. But it's believed that far richer interactins may happen in the near future thrugh artificial intelligence (AI). It wuldn't be predicting exactly what chices yu'd make. It'd be mre abut shwing yur ptential, based n the lives f peple similar t yu: nt just ne pssible life fr yu, but rather, the mst pssible life path fr yu. Such interactins culd ffer valuable insights int ur ptential future selves.
S, t return t my riginal questin: if yu culd time-travel t meet yur future self, what aspects f yur life wrld yu want t knw mre abut? I realized, thrugh thrugh reflectins, that the mst pwerful questins wuld be nes that helped me make better chices tday -- questins explring persnal grwth, regrets and unfulfilled actins.
Actually, yu dn't need t wait fr time travel r advanced AI fr answers that yu can act n. Thrugh my research, I've learnt that simply taking a bit f time t picture this meeting can help yu make better chices nw. All yu need is a little imaginatin, and the willingness t put yurself in the shes f a persn yu currently treat as a stranger.
题目 Why is it difficult fr peple t make lng-term decisins accrding t the authr?
A. Technlgy fr time travel is nt available.
B. Strangers cannt help with decisin-making.
C. Writing letters t ne's future self is impractical.
D. Peple find it hard t cnnect with their distant selves.
原文“... imagine ur future selves like strangers, which can impede us in making lng-term chices.”和D选项“find it hard t cnnect with...”

C. nt as cnvenient asD. less ppular than
Admittedly, having peple engage in an imagined cnversatin is a far cry frm actually meeting ne's future self.
Which f the fllwing is a suitable title fr the text?
A. Time travel: What if yu met yur future self?
B. My research: Hw d peple view their future selves?
C. Emtinal gap: Why can't we talk with ur future selves?
D. Artificial intelligence: Is it pssible t meet yur future self?
本文首段、第四段围绕「time travel, meet yur future self」提出核心问题连续用 What if ;尾段对设问做出解答,形成设问 — 阐释 — 作答的闭环;且 time travel、meet yur future self 为全文高频核心词,只有 A 选项完整涵盖核心话题与首尾设问,所以选 A。
原文15 The American pet Henry Wadswrth Lngfellw nce wrte: “Music is the universal language f mankind.” Music is everywhere. But why d we like it s much? One idea is that we quickly learn the patterns f music, and ur brains feel rewarded when they can “guess” what will cme next. But it may g deeper than that.
Neural resnance (神经共振) thery, r NRT, prpses that, just as ur bdy’s internal clck crrespnds with the light and dark cycles f the Earth, ur brains actually crrespnd with the pitch and rhythm f music. This may be why we enjy music s much and why we can dance, keep time with a sng, and even cmpse music. Edward W. Large says this isn’t just an abstract idea. “It’s literally the sund causing a physical resnance in the brain,” he tld UCnn Tday. Alng with ther researchers frm the US, the Netherlands, the UK and Canada, Large recently explained the principles f NRT. The researchers nte, fr example, that there’s evidence f ur brains cntinuing t react t musical harmnies even after the sunds have stpped. And scans have shwn activity in the brain that crrelates with keeping time with music, even if the music desn’t actually have a regular beat the listener can hear.
Accrding t NRT, this resnance is what makes us want t mve and dance and music cnnects nt just t ur ears and ur brains, but even t ur limbs and ur spinal crds (脊髓). “This thery suggests that music is pwerful nt just because we hear it, but because ur brains and bdies becme it,” said Carline Palmer, ne f the researchers. “That has big implicatins fr medical applicatin, educatin and technlgy,” Palmer said.
The researchers say that NRT can give us insight int hw the brain and bdy are cnnected, hw music cmmunicates emtin and hw ur understanding f the effects f music culd be applied t brain health in the future.
题目 What can be a suitable title fr the text?
A. NRT: An Answer t Musical Harmnies
B. Music: The Universal Language f Mankind
C. Brain Resnance: The Secret t Our Lve f Music
D. Brain Health: A Futuristic Trend in Medical Science
原文16(2024广东省一模C篇)Yet even as shrinkflatin cmes with inflatin, the prblem desn’t end after inflatin des. Once the new sizes are n the shelf, they are likely t stay that way. “Shppers dn’t have a chice. They have t adapt themselves t the changes,” adds Stiving. There are rare exceptins, but cmpanies generally take the pprtunity t get mre prfits.
题目 What is paragraph 3 mainly abut?
A. The cncerns f shppers. B. The interests f cmpanies.
C. The impact f shrinkflatin. D. The phenmenn f inflatin.
原文17.(2024广东省一模C篇)Fr many cmpanies, shrinkflatin seems t be unavidable. In fd industry, fr example, where custmers are highly sensitive t price, lifting prices might make custmers jump ship t anther brand. But facing the cntinuus inflatin, the cmpanies have t d smething t maintain their prfits. Intrducing small reductin in the size f their gds shuld enable them t imprve prfits while keeping their prices cmpetitive. But nce custmers ntice the change, they might feel fled, leading t a lss f trust and cnfidence.
题目 What is the authr’s attitude t the shrinkflatin in paragraph 4?
Favrable. B. Objective. C. Dismissive. D. Unclear.
18. Mst parents believe that strict rules are the best way t raise well - behaved children. Hwever, a recent educatinal study indicates that psitive cmmunicatin and emtinal supprt are mre effective in develping children’s self - discipline and sense f respnsibility. While punishment may stp bad behavir temprarily, it fails t teach kids hw t make crrect chices vluntarily.
题目 What is the authr’s main view n raising children?
Strict rules are the key t well - behaved kids.
Psitive cmmunicatin wrks better than strict rules.
Punishment can slve children’s behaviral prblems cmpletely.
Parents shuld fcus n stpping bad behavir first.
解题思路:表转折(but,hwever,instead,n the cntrary, actually/in fact,nevertheless,nnetheless等)的句子部分往往是出题题点,也往往是选项正确答案的依据。

20 The current schl physical educatin system has a limitatin in that it fcuses t much n cmpetitin rather than students’ verall fitness. We shuld adjust the curriculum t include mre fun sprts like frisbee and yga. T make students mre active, schls ught t prvide mre sprts facilities and rganize regular utdr activities.

B. Add interesting sprts and imprve sprts facilities.
C. Include frisbee and yga int the curriculum.
D. Ignre students’ verall fitness.
21 The number f yung peple interested in traditinal crafts is drpping sharply. This may be because mdern entertainment frms are mre attractive t them. Als, their decreasing interest is due t the fact that learning traditinal crafts takes much time but brings little ecnmic benefit.

Traditinal crafts are t easy t learn.
Mdern entertainment is less appealing.
Learning traditinal crafts is time - cnsuming and nt prfitable.
There are n curses n traditinal crafts in schls.
This may be because...
22 Scientists have fund that spending 20 minutes daily in nature can significantly reduce stress levels in teenagers, as shwn by a 2024 survey invlving 1,500 high schl students. Research shws that students wh d s have 30% lwer crtisl (压力激素) than thse wh stay indrs all day.
题目 What can we learn frm the studies mentined in the passage?
A. Staying indrs helps reduce teenagers’stress.
B. 20 minutes in nature can relieve stress levels in teenagers.
C. 1,500 students have high crtisl levels.
D. 20 - minute daily utdr time lwers teens’stress.
Scientists have fund that... 和 Research shws that...
23 When reading texts f several hundred wrds r mre, learning is generally mre successful when it’s n paper than nscreen. A large amunt f research cnfirms this finding. The benefits f print reading particularly shine thrugh when experimenters mve frm psing simple tasks — like identifying the main idea in a reading passage — t nes that require mental abstractin — such as drawing inferences frm a text.
题目 What des the underlined phrase “shine thrugh” in paragraph 2 mean?
A Seem unlikely t last.B. Seem hard t explain.
C. Becme ready t use.D. Becme easy t ntice.
根据前文“When reading texts f several hundred wrds r mre, learning is generally mre successful when it’s n paper than nscreen. A large amunt f research cnfirms this finding.(当阅读几百字或更多的文本时,在纸上学习通常比在屏幕上学习更成功。大量的研究证实了这一发现)”可知,在纸上学习更有成效,以及后文“when experimenters mve frm psing simple tasks — like identifying the main idea in a reading passage — t nes that require mental abstractin — such as drawing inferences frm a text.(当实验人员从提出简单的任务(如识别阅读文章的主旨)转移到需要思维抽象的任务(如从文本中推断)时)”推知,此处应是表达“当实验者从简单的任务转向需要精神抽象的任务时,纸质阅读的益处就变得显而易见”之意,所以shine thrugh应是“显而易见”之意,故选D。
