Leaf carving is an ancient frm f flk art in China. Artists use natural fallen leaves t create wnderful wrks. This art is special because artists fllw the leaves’ natural shapes and vein lines (纹路) t wrk.

Chen Lining tld us that making a leaf carving has simple steps: chsing leaves, carving, plishing and pressing. First, pick suitable leaves. The best leaves have clear veins, a wide surface and even small hles. These natural marks are perfect fr carving. After chsing leaves, wash them carefully and put them in water t keep them sft. Dry leaves break easily, s this step is very imprtant.
The hardest part is carving. Artists watch the natural vein lines clsely and use a small knife t cut ut beautiful patterns little by little. This wrk needs a steady hand and a lng-term fcus. One small mistake can break the whle leaf and ruin the wrk. When carving is finished, wrkers plish the leaf and press it flat. Finally, a cmmn fallen leaf turns int a wnderful art piece. With careful hands and gd skills, they make lvely and amazing patterns n thin leaves.
