(原创题)Scientists have fund clear evidence f climate change by studying DNA kept in ld military air samples. Fr decades, the Swedish Armed Frces cllected air t mnitr nuclear pllutin. Recently, researchers discvered that the filters used in this prcess als preserved tiny bilgical particles, creating a surprising scientific recrd f the past.
By examining this archive, a team frm Lund University tracked changes in mss spres ver 35 years. Their analysis revealed a striking shift: msses in the nrth nw release their spres abut ne mnth earlier than they did in the 1990s. This is a significant change, especially cnsidering that the grwing seasn in nrthern regins is naturally shrt. The earlier release f spres shws hw quickly nature can react t a warming climate.
The mst unexpected finding was what caused this change. The researchers had assumed that weather in the same year, such as a warmer spring, wuld be the main reasn. Hwever, the results pinted t a different factr: warmer autumns in the year befre. When autumn temperatures stay high fr a lnger perid, msses get mre time t develp their spre-prducing parts befre winter. This gives them a head start, allwing them t release spres much earlier when the next spring arrives.
This study des mre than just dcument the effects f climate change; it als intrduces a pwerful new methd fr scientific research. By using DNA frm ld air samples, scientists can nw track lng-term eclgical changes fr many different species. Since air has been cllected in varius lcatins, researchers can cmpare envirnmental trends acrss different areas. This new tl ffers an exciting way t understand hw ur planet has changed ver time and will likely cntribute t majr internatinal reprts n climate change.
      24. What mainly caused msses t release spres earlier?
      A. Warmer spring weather in the same year.
      B. Increased nuclear pllutin in the air.
      C. Lnger summer days in nrthern areas.
      D. Higher temperatures in the previus autumn.
      25. What can be inferred abut the ld air samples?
      A. They were riginally designed t study climate change.
      B. They have scientific value beynd their first purpse.
      C. They are n lnger cllected by the Swedish military.
      D. They were cnsidered useless after the Cld War.
      26. What is a key feature f the new research methd?
      A. It requires live plant samples fr analysis.
      B. It fcuses nly n mss spres in Sweden.
      C. It can track eclgical changes ver a lng time.
      D. It was develped by a majr internatinal climate panel.
      27. What is the writer's main purpse in writing the passage?
      A. T intrduce a new way t study climate effects.
      B. T explain the life cycle f nrthern msses.
      C. T criticize past military activities.
      D. T encurage peple t cllect mre air samples.
D 25. B 26. C 27. A
根据文章第三段,“the results pinted t a different factr: warmer autumns in the year befre”,可知研究结果指向了前一年更温暖的秋季。选项D“Higher temperatures in the previus autumn”与此完全一致。
B“They have scientific value beynd their first purpse”准确地概括了这一点。
文章第四段明确指出,“By using DNA frm ld air samples, scientists can nw track lng-term eclgical changes”,即通过这种方法可以追踪长期的生态变化。选项C“It can track eclgical changes ver a lng time”是对此信息的同义转述。
A“T intrduce a new way t study climate effects”最能概括全文主旨。

(原创题)Experts use a term t describe hw easily peple can mve up r dwn the incme ladder cmpared with thers. This shws whether a family's financial psitin is likely t stay the same r change ver time. T understand this, researchers recently studied the reasns behind these financial shifts, fcusing n tw main surces f mney: incme frm wrk and incme frm investments.
The findings were quite clear. When peple's financial situatin imprves and they mve ahead f thers, it is mainly because f their earnings frm wrk. In practical terms, having a stable, well-paying jb is the mst imprtant factr fr lng-term financial prgress. Mney frm investments can certainly help, but it rarely plays the leading rle in helping mst peple build lasting wealth ver their careers.
Hwever, the situatin is very different when incmes start t decline. When peple fall behind financially cmpared t their peers, the primary reasn is ften a reductin in their incme frm investments. Lsses frm things like shares, prperty, r business activities tend t be the biggest cause f peple slipping dwn the incme ladder. These financial drps ften happen alngside lwer wrk earnings, but investment lsses play the dminant rle.
The reasn fr this sharp difference lies in hw these tw types f incme behave. Incme frm wrk ften increases gradually thrughut a persn’s life as they gain mre experience, imprve their skills, r find better jbs. This steady grwth helps many peple imprve their financial standing ver time. In cntrast, incme frm investments is much mre unstable. It can g up and dwn quickly with market changes, and fr mst peple, it is mre likely t lead t a decrease than t prvide cntinuus grwth.
Therefre, fr the majrity f peple, the path t financial security begins with a slid incme frm wrk. A steady jb prvides the necessary fundatin. Once this stability is achieved, it may then becme pssible t save mney and explre investment pprtunities. Lasting financial prgress is usually built n the reliable earnings frm a jb, with investment incme playing a secndary, supprting rle later n.
      28. What are the main factrs fr incme changes?
      A. Bth are mainly driven by wrk incme.
      B. Bth are clsely related t investment gains.
      C. Gains cme frm wrk, while drps frm investments.
      D. Gains are frm investments, while drps frm wrk.
      29. What can be inferred abut wrk incme?
      A. It grws rapidly fr yung peple.
      B. It is mre reliable than investment incme.
      C. It is the nly way t becme wealthy.
      D. It decreases as ne gets lder.
      30. What is the suggested financial path fr mst peple?
      A. Fcus n investments frm the very beginning.
      B. Rely n a stable jb befre investing.
      C. Avid investments due t their high risks.
      D. Change jbs frequently t increase salary.
      31. What is the authr's attitude twards capital incme?
      A. Highly psitive, seeing it as the key t wealth.
      B. Cmpletely negative, warning against all investments.
      C. Objective but cautius, highlighting its risks.
      D. Indifferent, fcusing nly n wrk incme.
C 29. B 30. B 31. C
文章第二段首句提到“when peple's financial situatin is mainly because f their earnings frm wrk”,第三段首句提到“when incmes start t primary reasn is ften a reductin in their incme frm investments”。
文章第四段将工作收入描述为“increases gradually”,是“steady grwth”,而将投资收入描述为“much mre unstable”,并“g up and dwn quickly”。
文章最后一段明确指出“the path t financial security begins with a slid incme frm wrk”,并建议“Lasting financial prgress is usually built n the reliable earnings frm a jb, with investment incme playing a secndary, supprting rle later n”。

(原创题)Sugar substitutes, like srbitl(山梨醇) fund in many "sugar-free" prducts, are widely chsen as healthier alternatives t sugar. Hwever, new scientific research is challenging this cmmn belief, suggesting that these alternatives may carry their wn hidden health risks, particularly fr the liver.
The cre f the issue lies in hw the bdy prcesses srbitl. Studies shw that srbitl is very clsely related t fructse(果糖), a type f sugar knwn t cntribute t liver damage. In fact, the bdy can easily cnvert srbitl int fructse. This prcess begins in the intestines, where enzymes can prduce srbitl frm glucse after a meal. This newly created srbitl, alng with that cnsumed directly frm fd, is then transprted t the liver fr cnversin int fructse.
Frtunately, ur bdies have a natural defense system: certain helpful bacteria living in the gut. These bacteria can break dwn srbitl, turning it int a harmless substance befre it ever reaches the liver. This prtective effect explains why srbitl in small amunts, such as in whle fruits, typically causes n prblems.
Hwever, this defense system has its limits. Truble arises when the amunt f srbitl verwhelms the gut bacteria. This can happen in tw ways: by cnsuming t much glucse, which leads the bdy t prduce mre srbitl, r by eating t many prducts cntaining srbitl itself. Even individuals with healthy gut bacteria can face prblems if their intake is excessive, as the bacteria simply cannt keep up with the high vlume.
The verall message is that replacing sugar is nt a simple slutin. The lng-held assumptin that sugar alchls like srbitl are harmless may be incrrect. As ne researcher put it, there is "n free lunch" when it cmes t sweeteners. Many f these alternatives can still lead dwn a path t liver harm, reminding us that making healthy fd chices requires careful cnsideratin beynd just the "sugar-free" label.
      32. When des srbitl becme a risk t the liver?
      A. When a persn eats t much fruit.
      B. When it is cnsumed tgether with glucse.
      C. When it is cnverted int a safe substance.
      D. When helpful bacteria are absent r verladed.
      33. What des the authr imply abut "sugar-free" prducts?
      A. They are always better than sugary fds.
      B. They are cmpletely safe fr diabetic patients.
      C. They shuld nly be surced frm natural fds.
      D. Cnsumers shuld be cautius abut their ingredients.
      34. Why d srbitl and fructse have similar health effects?
      A. The bdy can transfrm srbitl int fructse.
      B. They are bth present in the same prcessed fds.
      C. They are brken dwn by the same type f bacteria.
      D. They belng t the same categry f sweeteners.
      35. What des the phrase "n free lunch" suggest abut sugar substitutes?
      A. They are ften t expensive fr daily use.
      B. They may ultimately be just as harmful.
      C. They are difficult t find in mst stres.
      D. They d nt prvide the same level f sweetness.
D 33. D 34. A 35. B
选项D(当有益细菌缺失或超负荷时)准确地概括了这两种情况。
选项D(消费者应对其成分保持谨慎)是合理的推断。
文章第二段明确指出:“the bdy can easily cnvert srbitl int fructse”(身体可以轻易地将山梨糖醇转化为果糖),并且解释了山梨糖醇是“very clsely related t fructse”(与果糖密切相关)。
选项B(它们最终可能同样有害)最符合其深层含义。

36.根据上文“One f my friends annunced early n that she did nt knw hw t ck, nr wuld she learn t ck. She had smething mre imprtant t d, namely write her nvels. I admired her, and even envied her.(我的一个朋友很早就表明,她不会做饭,也不会去学做饭。 故选A。
37.根据上文“In New Yrk, there are a millin ways nt t ck. It is easy t rder in, r t hire smene t ck if yu have the resurces.(在纽约,有无数种无需自己做饭的方式。 选项G(但即使在忙碌的日子里,我还是会给家人做饭)衔接前文“不做饭的便捷”与后文“我对做饭的喜爱”,符合语境。故选G。
38.根据上文“And yet my friend wh desn’t ck is als right.(然而,我的那位不会做饭的朋友其实也是对的)”以及后文“Smetimes I wnder if I will regret thse hurs: cutting ingredients (原料), searching fr supplies, and hurrying ut fr cking enrich family life? Des it give everyne an uncnscius feeling f wellbeing? 选项E(做饭可能是一项耗时又费力不讨好的任务)呼应朋友的观点,引出后文对做饭耗时的吐槽,衔接自然。故选E。
39.根据上文“I have anther friend wh cked n a whle ther level than mst f us. Years later, she realized that she was putting t much f her energy and thught and inspiratin int it. She seemed t have turned against it as a mde f expressin.(我还有一个朋友,她的厨艺水平远超我们大多数人。 选项D(她开启了全新的事业,后来发展得很成功)承接“不再专注做饭”,说明她转向了其他领域,情节完整。故选D。
40.根据后文“I will just stp planning dinners and ging t the fish stre and the grcery stre. I imagine finishing my Helen Garner nvel as the sky darkens. But I als want this ne hur at the end f the day when I step ut f wrk and measure and preheat and marinate (腌制). 63.
the appeal f sth.
