In ur daily lives, we talk with many peple. Being plite is nt just a gd habit; it’s a key t making cmmunicatin smther (顺利的) and mre pleasant. English has special ways t shw respect, especially when we ask fr help r permissin (许可).
When we ask smene t d smething, hw we ask makes a big difference. Instead f a direct cmmand (命令) like “Sweep the flr”, a plite request (请求) is better. Using “Culd yu please ” wrks well. Fr example, “Culd yu please help me with this heavy bx?” is a gd request. “Culd” sunds sfter than “can”, which shws mre respect. Adding “please” makes it even friendlier.
When we want permissin, the wrds we chse are als imprtant. “Can ” is cmmn with friends, but “Culd ” is mre plite, especially with adults (成年人) like teachers. Asking a friend, “Can I brrw yur bk?” is fine. But asking a teacher, “Culd I ask a questin?” shws respect fr their psitin (职位).
Pliteness is als tw-way. When yu cannt help smene, just saying “N” can sund rude (粗鲁的). It’s better t give a shrt reasn. Fr example, yu culd say, “I’m srry, but I have t finish my hmewrk first.” This shws yu respect their request, even if yu can’t agree.
