Befre I knew it, I was thrugh security and waiting at the gate with the camera.
Cherié lked at me with wide eyes, saying, "Hw did yu cut the line?" I smiled bradly, hlding up the camera. "Call me Wdy — I gt thrugh the airprt's special channel fr public figures," I said. There is a saying that knwledge is pwer. Hwever, in reality, knwledge is preventin. It can ften seem that natural disasters, such as wildfires, are unpredictable and cannt be prevented, but that may n lnger be the case.
A team f Israeli scientists frm Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan bas recently published e study in Scientific Reprts that they have develped a new AI mdel that is capable f accurately frecasting wildfire utbreaks.
The AI mdel can predict the lcatin and timing f lightning - induced(雪电引发的)wildfires with 90 percent accuracy. This srt f mdel culd truly be lifesaving, as climate change has heightened(提高)the ccurrences and dangers f lightning - induced wildfires.
The mdel utperfrmed(超过)traditinal wildfire risk indexes(指数). In rder t create this highly accurate mdel, the researchers integrated envirnmental factrs, data frm weather systems and satellites.
Dr. Oren Glickman, an assistant prfessr in Bar - ilan University's Cmputer Science Department, said, "Lightning - ignited(闪电引发的)wildfires are a glbal challenge, and ur mdel shws it is likely t heighten with climate change. With an imprved ability t predict lightening fires, meterlgical services, fire departments, and emergency planners can respnd earlier and mre effectively, ptentially saving lives and prtecting ecsystems."
While the first study ffered a slutin glbally, am additinal study frm Tal Aviv University, intrduced an AI mdel aimed at mre lcal slutins. The purpse f this mdel - is t raise the accuracy f wildfire predictin fr specific cuntries and. Lcatin. Basing themselves n the fairly accurate Canadian wildfire index, the researchers imprved - the index fr specific cuntries thrugh climate - infrmed adaptatin f fire weather variables(变量). But the researchers did nt stp there. They then develped cuntry - specific machine learning mdels which they simplified int decisin trees. This methd clcked in(达到)with an impressive 86 percent
accuracy.
Lightning - induced wildfires are glbal issues, but the weather, gegraphy and lcal parameters (参数) f every given lcatin als create very distinct and specific wildfire risks. Thse aspects must be taken int accunt when lking t make a wildfire preventin system.
28. What can be learned abut the AI mdel develped by Bar - Ilan University?
A. It prevents wildfires ccurrence by 90%
B. It predict wildfires very precisely.
C. It reduces satellite data in fire preventin.
D. It fcuses entirely n lcal weather cnditins.
29. What is Dr. Glickman's pinin n AI wildfire predictin?
A. It has effects n climate change.B. It shuld priritize fire departments.
C. It keeps ecsystems under cntrl.D. It allws earlier emergency respnses.
30. Hw did Tel Aviv University's researchers imprve the Canadian wildfire index?
A. By intrducing climate study methds.
B. By aviding the envirnmental factrs.
C. By simplifying its machine learning mdels.
D. By adapting the weather - based risk factrs lcally.
31. What needs cnsidering when creating a wildfire preventin system accrding t the last paragraph?
A. AI mdels' applicatinB. Glbal and reginal factrs.
C. Histrical disaster data.D. Lcal and public prmtin.
