      教学过程
      Part 1 Mdals(2)
      Lead-in: Understand the fllwing sentences and make inference abut the wrds in bld.
      1. Mary didn’t cme t schl yesterday. She may be ill.
      2.This classrm must be bright at night because there are s many electric bulbs.
      3.Jack can’t finish his hmewrk fr he has been busy helping t lk after his little brther.
      设计意图:培养学生的学习能力,在观察和比较中完成学习任务,预测学习重点。
      Activity 1: Lk at the sentences frm the reading passage and answer the questins.
      a. That is why letters frm Father Christmas culd be the perfect bk...
      b. The children must have been very excited as they pened it.
      c. might nt receive their presents if they were nt gd.
      1. What d the wrds in bld indicate: an rder, a request, ability r pssibility?
      2. Will the meaning f sentence (a) change if we replace "culd" with "must" r "might"?
      3. What happens if we change "must" and "might" in sentences(b) and (c) int "culd"?
      Then intrduce the mdals wrds “must, may, might, can, culd” and their basic usages with examples.

      Activity 2: Rewrite the underlined sentences in the cnversatin using can/culd, may/might and must.

      Jean: Lk at thse tw guys dressed as chickens! Oh, they’re
      waving at us! Maybe they’re frm ur schl.
      Chris: Let’s g and find ut.
      Pssible sentences:
      Yu must be tired nw!
      It may/might/culd be him.
      That must be Lucy.
      that can’t be Lucy.
      They may / might / culd be frm ur schl.
      设计意图:在具体语境中培养学生的实践能力,从语气角度了解情态动词表推测的变化。
      Activity 3: Lk at the picture and make as many sentences as pssible using can / culd, may / might and must.
      Example: The wman in red must be very excited.
