      English Week: A chance fr students t shineLast week, students at Yangguang Junir High Schl wrked hard t make their English Week a big success. This year’s theme was “prmting cultural exchange”. There were a number f events and activities during the week. There was an English bk fair and a treasure hunt. Sme students tk part in a speaking cmpetitin. They spke fr tw minutes n a tpic f their chice, and there were wnderful speeches abut recent technlgical develpments in China and abrad. Other students put n an English play. They designed the cstumes themselves and had great fun acting in the play. One f the mst ppular activities was a pster design cmpetitin. We spke t the winner, Zhang Xin. “I’m s happy I wn,” he said. “I made a pster abut the Silk Rad. It was great t learn abut this imprtant netwrk f trade rutes between China and Eurpe.” We spke t several ther students abut English Week. One f them was Su Mei. “It gave me a chance t learn abut ther parts f the wrld, and it has really helped me imprve my English speaking skills. I didn’t knw that learning culd be this fun!”The teachers were all very happy with the result. “English Week is a great pprtunity fr students: they get t take part in fun activities, practise using English and acquire valuable cultural knwledge at the same time,” said a teacher. “N wnder everyne is lking frward t next year’s event!”
