      There’s a “culture f walking and texting” n the Utah Valley University campus, accrding t cnversatins with students, but that’s nt the main reasn. Matt Bambrugh, the creative directr at UVU, came up with an idea t paint a “texting lane (小路)” n a staircase leading up t the Wellness Center.
      Accrding t Bambrugh, it’s first and fremst a design prject — the texting lane was a tngue-in-cheek (戏谑) reference t the cllege-wide epidemic (流行) f kids walking arund with their faces buried in their smartphnes.
      “Students are walking dwn the hall with smart phnes. Yu’re almst bund t run int smene smewhere; it’s smething we’re dealing with in this day and age,” Bambrugh said. “But preventing cllisins (碰撞) isn’t the reasn we did it — we did it t aruse the students’ attentin. It’s meant t be there fr peple t lk at and enjy.” Still, when talking t Utah Valley students, it sunds like texting and walking can be quite the annyance.
      Rbbie Pffenberger, an assistant news editr at the UVU Review, said that mst cllisins he witnesses aren’t human-n-human; rather, it’s generally human-n-inanimate (无生命的)-bject. “They walk int chairs n the side f the hallway r railings,” Pffenberger said, “I’m sure they’re fairly embarrassed.”
