These differences are clear, but explaining them has prved challenging. Nw, research using virtual (虚拟) reality suggests that t sme degree, navigatinal (导航的) skills are shaped by upbringing.
A 2020 study stressed this. The researchers cmpared the perfrmance f mre than 2,600 twins as they navigated thrugh a virtual envirnment t test whether navigatinal ability runs in families. It des, they fund — but nly slightly. Instead, the biggest cntributr t peple’s perfrmance was what geneticists (基因学家) call “nnshared envirnmental factrs”— the unique experiences each persn acquires as he grws. Gd navigatrs, it appears, are mstly made, nt brn.

Based n data frm nearly fur millin players wrldwide, they discvered that cultural factrs were linked t wayfinding skills. Peple frm Nrdic cuntries, where the navigatin sprt f rienteering is ppular, perfrmed slightly better.
Results like these suggest that life experience may be ne f the biggest factrs f navigatinal ability. Indeed, experience may even act as ne f the mst cmmn findings in navigatin: that men tend t perfrm better than wmen. Turns ut this gender (性别) difference is mre a questin f culture and experience than f brn ability. Nrdic cuntries, fr example, where gender equality is greatest, shw almst n gender difference in navigatin. Hwever, men far utperfrm wmen in places where wmen face cultural limits n explring their envirnment.
T Uttal, these findings carry an ptimistic meaning. “The gd news is that navigatin is trainable” he ntes, “It’s never t late t becme a better navigatr. Yu just need t give yurself pprtunities t explre and pay attentin t yur envirnment.”
12.What did the 2020 study n twins reveal abut navigatinal ability?
      A. It is largely decided by genes.
      B. It is learned thrugh experience.
      C. It varies little amng individuals.
      D. It remains unchanged in a persn’s life.
13.Hw was the “Sea Her Quest” experiment carried ut?

      B. By bserving hw players navigate.
      C. By cmparing the Nrdics with thers.
      D. By studying smartphne game data.
14.Why d men ften utperfrm wmen in navigatin?
      A. Men benefit frm practicing sprts.
      B. Wmen lack interest in ding s.
      C. Men have strnger space memry.
      D. Wmen have fewer chances t explre.
15.What can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. What Can “Sea Her Quest” Teach Us?
      B. Why D Sme Peple Always Get Lst?
      C. Hw Des VR Imprve Navigatinal Skills?
      D. Wh Are Better Navigatrs: Men r Wmen?
