The Impacts f Climate Change
Climate change is ne f the greatest challenges facing ur planet tday. Scientists have warned that rising glbal temperatures, caused mainly by human activities like burning fssil fuels and defrestatin, are leading t extreme weather events, melting ice caps, and rising sea levels.
In recent decades, the Earth’s average temperature has increased by abut 1.1°C cmpared t pre-industrial levels. This small rise has already caused significant changes. Glaciers in the Himalayas are melting at an alarming rate, threatening water supplies fr millins f peple. The Arctic ice cap is shrinking, endangering plar bears and ther Arctic animals that rely n sea ice fr survival. Meanwhile, sea levels have risen by abut 20 centimeters since 1900, putting castal cities like Shanghai and Miami at risk f flding.
Extreme weather is becming mre frequent. Heatwaves are lnger and mre intense, causing drughts in sme regins and heavy rainfall in thers. Fr example, in 2022, Eurpe experienced recrd-breaking heat, while parts f Africa faced severe drughts. These changes affect agriculture, leading t fd shrtages and increased hunger.
But there is hpe. By transitining t renewable energy surces like slar and wind pwer, we can reduce carbn emissins. Planting trees and prtecting frests can als help absrb CO₂. Individuals can make a difference t—by reducing energy use, recycling, and chsing sustainable prducts.

One day, I nticed my neighbr, Grandma Li, thrwing all her waste int ne bin. I plitely explained the different categries t her. She smiled and said, “I’m ld, and this is cmplicated, but I’ll try.” The next day, I saw her carefully separating plastic bttles int the blue bin. That small mment made me realize hw ne persn’s effrt can inspire thers.
Our cmmunity als rganized weekly clean-up days. Every Saturday mrning, kids and adults wuld gather t pick up litter in the park. We even set up a “recycling crner” where peple culd exchange ld items instead f thrwing them away. Slwly, I saw mre residents participating, and the park became cleaner.
One f the mst rewarding experiences was visiting a recycling factry with my class. We saw hw plastic bttles are turned int new prducts, like plyester fibers fr clthing. It was amazing t see waste being transfrmed int smething useful.
