基本区别:时间与礼貌程度
(1)Can:表示现在的能力或可能性,语气较直接。
例句: I can speak English.
我能说英语。(表示当前具备的能力)
(2)Culd:表示过去的能力或更礼貌/委婉的请求/可能性。
例句(过去):WhenI was yung, culd run fast.我年轻时跑得很快。

2.可能性推测
(1)Can:表示理论上的可能性(一般性规律)。
例句: Smking can cause cancer.
吸烟可能导致癌症。(泛指普遍可能性)
