Winter, the star f the mvie Dlphin Tale, is Cieran’s idl because they bth swim with the help f prsthetic flippers.


Flrida’s Clearwater Marine Aquarium（水族馆）, where Winter lives, usually nly lets visitrs swim in the dlphin tank every three weeks r s, but when its chief fficer David Yates heard Cieran’s stry he said he must make a swim-and-greet happen.


Lcal turism fficials flew Cieran and his family t the aquarium frm England after a year f planning. His parents had a hard time keeping the surprise a secret fr s lng! They tld Cieran that the trip was just ging t be a business trip fr his father Gary, and it wasn’t until they were halfway there that flight attendants annunced that the trip was actually fr Cieran t meet Winter!


Cieran caught a disease that cst bth f his legs and mst f his fingertips. He still lves t play sprts like sccer and gymnastics with his friends, but it’s taken him a little lnger t learn hw t swim.


T help him catch up with his friends, Cieran’s father Gary, with the help f a prsthetic specialist, created prsthetic flippers s that Cieran culd mve like his idl, Winter.


“His first wrds when he saw the film was ‘Winter’s disabled, just like me. It’s just been a dlphin in a film fr a lng time and nw it’s real… It’s just a dream cme true,’” said Gary.


Once in the tank he fed Winter fish and played with her fr mre than an hur. Cieran’s sister Layla and Winter’s “sister” Hpe als jined them fr a while. He said he culd have swam “fr a millin hurs” if he was allwed t!


After the swim Cieran annunced he wants t wrk at the aquarium s that he can always lk after Winter, his new best friend. “The feeling was great and emtinal t be swimming with a dlphin. I lve dlphins. But the best dlphin I’ve ever lved is Winter.” he said.

I spent ne Sunday afternn helping my friend put tgether the ice hckey (冰球) net he’d just bught fr his kids. Dne, we std back and admired the precisin (精密度) design.


Althugh my childhd friends and I wuld’ve lved such a net, there is a lt t be said fr the way we had t imprvise (临时变动) ur hckey games.


Imprvising gal nets with what we culd find made us inventive, taught us leadership and teamwrk and was fun and jyful.


Mst ften we used bts (靴子). Each gal was marked by tw bts spaced as equally apart as we culd manage. The truble was that they ften went sliding when the puck (冰球运动用球) hit them hard enugh. Thse mments were exciting, as the galie (守门员) had t chase a bt that had mved, and reset it quickly, r risk smene taking advantage and scring a gal. And we als had t keep ur eyes peeled fr the ccasinal dishnest galie wh might mve the bts clser tgether.


This situatin led t discussins and arguments ver what might r might nt have been a gal, but we imprved ur debating skills in these negtiatins, and learned t stand up t kids wh wanted t dminate (控制) everyne else. Inevitably (不可避免地), the number f cmpetitrs wuld thin ut as mms called them hme fr supper.


This was the best time. After the hurs f play, we were sweaty, red-faced, wet and dirty. Players had t be traded t keep the teams even, but we managed the adjustments well. N time t waste nw, since sn it wuld be dark. We jined ur new team n questins asked, just taking the psitin n the ice the captain pinted us t. Enemies became friends.
