The Cming f Age Ceremny in Ancient China
In ancient China, the cming-f-age ceremny was an essential ritual fr a child that had grwn up. It dates back t the Zhu Dynasty, with a histry ver 2,000 years. The purpse f the ceremny was t put the initiate thrugh varius difficulties, and finally bring them int adult sciety. Accrding t the Bk f Rites (《礼记》) recrds, males shuld take part in a capping ceremny (冠礼) at 20, while female a hairpin ceremny (笄礼) takes place at 15. Bth were hsted by the elderly f the clan accrding t traditin.
