该板块的活动主题是“欣赏不同形式的英文诗歌”（Appreciate different forms of English poems）。这一板块主要让学生了解几种简单的英文诗歌形式，学习具有代表性的相关诗作，掌握这几种诗歌形式的基本特点，体会诗歌的魅力，感悟诗人表达的思想感情，从而学会欣赏英文诗歌。

2. 引导学生掌握本篇说明文的文本结构特点；
3. 引导学生通过寻读对几种诗歌的特点、主题以及修辞手法等信息进行整理和归纳；

结合本单元话题设置问题，让学生展开讨论，进行课堂预热。

     Do you understand the poem lines in the photo? Can you use your own words to explain

them?

     When you think of the words “poem” or “poetry”, what comes to mind?

     What is poem /poetry?

Step 1 Pre-reading

1. 让学生完成活动1，根据已有的背景知识描述诗歌与其他文学体裁不同的本质特点，针对诗人们为何会写诗这一话题表达自己的认识和看法。

     Compared with other forms of literature such as the novel, drama, and the short story, what are the characteristics of poetry?

     Why do you think people write poems?

2. 结合课文标题和文本的呈现形式，让学生思考：

     What do you expect to learn from the reading passage?

Step 2 While-reading

1. 让学生快速阅读文章，梳理文章结构。
2. 带领学生阅读课本的阅读策略，学会如何理解诗歌。
3. 带领学生细读第一段，思考如下问题：

          Why people compose poetry?

          What are the characteristics of poetry?

4. 带领学生细读2-6段，将活动2的表格补充完整。

Step 3 Post-reading

让学生和同伴谈论自己喜欢的诗歌。

          Which poem do you like best? Why?

          Does each of the poems we’ve read paint a picture in your mind? Which poem does? What is the picture?

Step 4 Homework

          Read the text aloud.

          Make out the different types of poetry.
