The arm is cntrlled by a device wrn n the frehead whse sensrs pick up the brain’s electrical activity, r brainwaves. Thinking abut different arm mtins, such as waving r making a fist, creates different brainwave patterns. An artificial intelligence, r AI, system translates thse
brainwave patterns t mve the rbtic arm.
The AI system had t be trained t translate thse brainwaves. Ben gathered brainwave data frm vlunteers at his schl and in his family. “Frm thse participants, I cllected maybe an hur r tw f brainwave activity,” he says. “That’s thusands f data pints.” Studying thse data helped the AI system learn t read minds.

These “envirnmental micrrganisms” can find their way int humans thrugh water, air, animals, and fd. And the effect f such drugs n wildlife is nt yet clear. “I dn’t think there are any enrmus disasters happening,” Kay said. “On the whle it’s lng impacts.”
