We went to the campus to watch the final of the 4x100-meter relay. So extraordinary was the experience that I would never forget. I had never imagined that the atmosphere at a sports event could be so intense. When the runners set off, everyone went wild! We all stood up, cheering and shouting. The runners strained to run as fast as they could, while trying not to drop their batons at the change. I was also caught up in the excitement and cheered so hard that I thought my lungs would burst! It was so wonderful to be part of this sporting moment and enjoy its speed and passion. 第二节 读后续写(25分)Para. 1:Unable to contain her anger,” No dinner for you! Go to bed now!” she exploded. It was the first time that Mother had got mad at me. Nobody seemed to care about me, including my beloved mother! My teeth were chattering, unable to utter a single word, with my hands shaking. I stormed to my bedroom, and slammed the door behind me. Lying on bed, I finally calmed down and my breathing became regular. A sharp pain of fault hit me. The more I thought about my actions, the heavier my heart felt. Then, I heard strange sounds coming from the kitchen. Puzzled, I opened my bedroom door, tiptoeing towards the kitchen.Para. 2:Then a thick, juicy smell of hamburgers greeted my nose. Sensing my footsteps, Mother looked up, asking tentatively, “Want some?” I took a bite guiltily, shedding regretful tears. “Mom, I’m awfully sorry for being awful to you today. I had a bad day at school. I don’t deserve this.” I apologized. “I should have guessed you’re in a tough spot, sorry, honey. I remember those growing up years.” Mother smiled and gave me a big bear hug. There was nothing like mother’s unconditional love — that night, I should have been punished; instead, Mother dished up a hearty portion of grace. 原文:1. M: I like these cups. How much are they? W: Eight dollars each. Or two for 15. M: So I’d like two of them.2. M: Hey, Jane. How’s the dance class going? W: Great. Just on the way to tennis practice. And you? M: I’m going to my violin lesson.3. M: Why are you late for class? W: Oh, I locked the keys in my room. I had to wait until my roommate got back so that I could get my textbooks.4. M: I’d like to check into a room, please. W: Did you make a reservation with us? M: Yes, it’s under my last name Kendell. W: OK, I have found your reservation. You’ll be staying in Room 810. Here’s your key.5. M: The weather was clear all down the coast, so the flight was pretty smooth. W: But that fog did make it longer than we expected. M: Yeah. Anyway I am glad to be home safely.6. W: Where did you live while you were working in Australia? M: At first, I was given a room in a hotel in town but I found that I felt quite lonely so I moved to the campground. Lots of other staff lived there and I got to meet lots of the local people too. W: Did you get along with them? M: Of course. Everyone was really friendly and, as there wasn’t a cinema or restaurant nearby, the local people often had a party on Saturday night and I was always invited.7. W: Where did you go this weekend, John? M: I spent two days in the countryside. W: What did you do there? M: I had a picnic with my family. I also lay down on the grass and looked at the clouds in the blue sky. It was the happiest time of my life. How about you? Did you have a good weekend? W: Yeah. I visited an Italian city. There are no tall buildings or heavy traffic. M: Why? W: It’s an ancient city with a history of two thousand years. The Italians don’t want to change the ancient city into a modern one. M: Do other people like their literature and art? W: Yes. Millions of people from other parts of the world visit the city every year.8. W: Oh, look, there’s the new Krissy Holt CD. She’s got such a great voice, hasn’t she? M: Actually, I don’t really like her singing. W: Oh. Well, what about over here? There are CDs of other pop bands. Look, here is Westwood. The band is quite old now, but they’re still pretty good, don’t you think? M: I sort of like slower music. W: Maybe you’d like Michael Barton. He sings music from the past. He’s got a great voice. M: I’ve heard of him before and I’m really interested in his music. Honestly, I prefer reading more than listening to music. Can we go to the bookstore across the street? W: OK.9. M: Let’s go over the arrangements for my trip to Bombay. W: Sure, here’s your schedule. You’re flying at 9:55 on Monday evening. That’s British Airway flight 139. Er, you have to check in two hours before so I’ve arranged for a car to pick you up from the office at 6:30. It gets into Bombay at 11:15 p.m. M: Good. Now when am I seeing Mr. Shah? W: Tuesday afternoon at two. By the way, Mr. Majundar is coming to the meeting as well. M: That’s good news, so we don’t have to arrange a separate meeting. And has the tour of the new factory been arranged for Wednesday? W: Yes, they’ll pick you up in the morning at 9. M: Good. Have you got traveler’s cheques? W: Yes, here you are. M: Now has my visa arrived? W: No, not yet. I’ll phone and find out if they’ve sent it off yet. M: Thanks. And when am I flying back? W: I’m afraid the earliest flight I could get is Thursday at 1:15 a.m. Everything else was booked up.10. Hello and good afternoon. My name is Jane Walker and I’d like to welcome you new students to the university of Westley. What am I going to do today is just explain to you about some of the places here. If you look at the map on the screen, let me talk you through some of the places before describing them fully. Well, at present we are in the main lecture hall. If you go out of the main front entrance, then you’ll see opposite across the car park the entrance for the Students’ Union, which is the center of a lot of university life for most students. About 150 meters on the left of the Students’ Union is the university library. Behind the library is the main dining hall where many students eat both lunch and dinner. On the other side of the Students’ Union is a small church and behind the church there is a dormitory. There are three other dormitories behind the Students’ Union. Behind the main lecture hall we are in now is the sports hall and ground. You will find it all a bit confusing at first but you’ll get to know your way around very quickly.
