第二部分 阅读理解(满分40分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
21.(6分)Each year there is an increasing number of cars on roads and streets as millions of new cars and trucks(卡车)are produced. One out of every six Americans works at putting together the parts of cars, driving trucks, building roads or filling cars and trucks with gas. Americans won’t live without cars!
Most Americans would find it hard to think what life could look like without a car. However, some have realized the serious problem of the air pollution that is caused by the car. The polluted air becomes poisonous (有毒)and dangerous to health.
One way to get rid of the polluted car is to build a car that does not pollute. That’s what several of the large car factories have been trying to do. But to build a clean car is easier said than done. Progress in this field(领域) has been slow.
Another way is to take the place of the car engine by something else. Inventors are now working on steam cars as well as electric cars. Many makers believe that it will take years to develop a practical model that pleases man.
To prevent the world from being polluted by car, we’ll have to make some changes in the way many of us live. Americans, for example, have to cut down on the number of their total cars. They are encouraged to travel and to go to work by bicycle. Bicycling is thought to help keep the air clean.
But this change doesn’t come easily. A large number of workers may find themselves without jobs if a car factory closes down. Thus the problem of air pollution would become less important than that of unemployment(失业).
Although cars have led us to a better life, they have also brought us new problems.
1、How many ways to get rid of air pollution are suggested in this article by the writer?
A.One B.Two
C.Three D.Four
2、Large car factories are trying to build a clean car, ___________.
A.which is clean itself
B.which is used to clean streets
C.which does not pollute the air
D.which is easier to make
3、If the number of cars is cut down, the most serious problem to American workers is _______.
A.to have no work to do B.to keep the air clean
C.to get a better life D.to go work by bike
4、What is the conclusion of the writer?
A.Bicycling is the only way out
B.The number of cars must be cut down
C.Cars bring us nothing but serious problems
D.Cars bring us not only a better life but serious problems

25.(10分) Last week, Vodafone started a test of the UK’s first full 1G service, available for use by businesses in Salford. It is part of its plan to trial the technology in seven UK cities. But what can we expect from the next generation of mobile technology?
One thing we will see in the preparation for the test is lots of tricks with the new tech. Earlier this year, operators paid almost £1.4 billion for the 1G wavelengths, and to compensate for that cash, they will need to catch the eye of consumers. In September, Vodafone used its bit of the range to display the UK’s first hologram (全息) call. The Manchester City captain Steph Houghton appeared as a hologram in Newbury. It isn’t all holograms, however: 1G will offer faster internet access. with Ofcom (英国通讯管理局) suggesting that video that takes a minute to download on 4G will be available in just a second.
The wider application is to support connected equipment on the “internet of things” -not just the internet-enabled fridge that can reorder your milk for you, but the network that will enable driverless cars and delivery drones (无人机) to communicate with each other.
Prof William Webb has warned that the technology could be a case of the emperor’s new clothes. Much of the speed increase, he claims, could have been achieved by putting more money in the 4G network, rather than a new technology. Other different voices have suggested that a focus on rolling out wider rural broadband access and addressing current network coverage would be more beneficial to the UK as a whole.
Obviously, 1G will also bring a cost to consumers. It requires a handset for both 1G and 4G, and the first 1G-enabled smart phones are expected in the coming year. With the slow pace of network rollout so far, it is likely that consumers will end up upgrading to a new 1G phone well before 1G becomes widely available in the next couple of years.
1、Why does Prof William Webb say “the technology could be a case of the emperor’s new clothes”?
A.He is in favor of the application of the new technology.
B.1G will bring a cost to consumers in their daily life.
C.1G helps people communicate better with each other.
D.He prefers more money to be spent on 4G networks.
2、The underlined word “addressing” in the fourth paragraph has the closest meaning to .
A.making a speech to B.trying to solve
C.managing to decrease D.responding to
3、The last paragraph indicates that .
A.it’ll take several years to make 1G accessible to the public in the UK
B.1G service shows huge development potential and a broad market
C.customers are eager to use 1G smart phones instead of 4G ones
D.it’s probable that 1G network rollout is speeding up in Britain
4、What do we know about the text?
A.Vodafone is successful in spreading the 1G service.
B.Steph Houghton appeared as a hologram by 4G.
C.The application of 1G will make life much easier.
D.1G phones are available in rural areas of the UK.

第二节 书面表达(满分25分)
29、Nowadays mobile phones are becoming more and more popular among the middle school students. In my opinion, we can bring mobile phones to school.
As we know, the 21st century is a modern age and full of information. A mobile phone is one of the quickest tools for us to exchange information. The mobile phone is a fashionable and useful invention, so we ought to make the best use of it. Suppose there’s a sudden accident, it is more convenient for us to dial for help immediately. There’re also some games in the mobile phone. We can relax ourselves by playing them when we’re tired of our studies. In my opinion, it’s not wrong to follow the fashion, but the most important thing is how to use the mobile phone in a right way.
