1.Teacher show some pictures for students and let them guess where is it? And what is it?

2.Teacher plays a short video of Shennongjia for the students. Students watch the video and think over the two questions：

（1） Where is Shennongjia and what is it famous for?

（2） What else do you know about Shennongjia?

3.Teacher give feedback and students check them.

Students look at the title of the passage themselves， think about what it means and give some opinions.

2. Students read the passage to check their prediction individually.

3. Read the passage again and find out： Why did Shennongjia make it onto the UNESCO World Heritage List? At the same time， find out what each paragraph mainly about.

4. Teacher gives feedback and students check answers.

1.Students read sentences from the passage and decide if they serve to give data （D）， examples （E） or make comparisons （C）.

（1）. The region rises from about 400 metres to over 3，000 metres above sea level， …____

1. Teacher asks students to think about the similarities and differences between Macquaire Island and Shennongjia individually， and then finish the notes in Activity 4 on Page 58.

4. Students do a self-assessment about their presentations and adjust their learning strategies.

From this lesson， we know why Shennongjia has been chosen as a UNESCO World Heritage. It is our human’s understanding， awareness and hard work that have contributed towards protecting a unique and wonderful part of our natural world. We should have deep thought of human and nature. The relationship between human development and protection of ecosystem should be harmonious. When we develop our economy， we should protect our environment.
