Mrever, these students demnstrate superir academic perfrmance and better understanding f cmplex subject matters. Mr. Thmpsn, a mathematics teacher at Evergreen High Schl, exemplifies the findings f the study thrugh his teaching practices. He has made it his missin nt nly t teach math but als t inject a sense f resilience in his students. He emplys a variety f methds t cheer students up. Over time, Mr. Thmpsn’s effrts began t bear fruit. His students’ attitudes twards math shifted frm fear t fascinatin. They started t lk ahead , and mre imprtantly, this prcess helped them develp a grwth mindset.
Prfessr Warren, based n her research, recmmends creating an encuraging atmsphere where teens can freely discuss their challenges and receive helpful feedback. She als stresses the value f building a supprtive netwrk. Whether it’s a teacher, a cach, r a peer, having smene wh can give yu a bst when yu need it can make all the difference. Large Language Mdels (LLMs)are artificial intelligence systems designed t prcess and generate natural language. Trained n large datasets, they can perfrm tasks like translatin, summarizatin, and academic writing. Hwever, their use cmes with challenges and risks.
One majr issue with LLMs is “hallucinatin”, where the mdel prduces summaries that sund cnvincing but are based n unreliable r incrrect data. Fr instance, in 2023, researcher sat the University f Califrnia used an LLM t assist with a drug research review. Hwever, the mdel cited jurnals and articles that appeared credible but were entirely fabricated, leading there searchers t withdraw their paper during the peer review(同行评审) prcess.
David Leslie, a prfessr at Queen Mary University f Lndn, highlights anther significant challenge: “The LLM perates like a black bx, with its internal wrkings hidden, making it hard t understand hw utputs are generated, raising cncerns abut its reliability-even when results seem accurate.” Withut insight int hw the LLM reaches its cnclusins, users cannt be sure whether the utputs are based n slid data, increasing the ptential fr errrs r unintended cnsequences.
Anther prblem with LLMs is their reliance n histrical data, which can lead t biases(偏见). Fr example, in IT hiring, if the mdel is trained n data where mst emplyees were male, it may unintentinally favr male candidates. The mdel simply learns frm past patterns withut understanding why they exist r questining whether they are reasnable, ptentially deepening utdated trends and verlking factrs like diversity gals r current qualificatins. This can result in unfair utcmes fr wmen and ther underrepresented grups.
While LLMs can prcess data and generate respnses, they lack the ability t analyze, evaluate, and make independent decisins. In cntrast, humans can use lgic, cntext, and experience t slve cmplex prblems and make infrmed chices. Therefre, LLMs shuld be seen as an enhancement, nt a replacement fr human judgment.
      12. Why did researchers at the University f Califrnia withdraw their paper?
      A. They cited nn-existent data.B. They made up research results.
      C. They presented ver-simplified research.D. They put frward miscalculated statistics.
      13. Why des David Leslie describe the LLM as a black bx?
      A. Its decisin-making is invisible.B. Its reasning prcess is data-based.
      C. It can prcess cmplicated datasets.D. It may generate incrrect infrmatin.
14 Which aspect f LLMs des paragraph 4 mainly fcus n?
      A. Its dependence n IT experts.B. Its lack f critical assessment
      C. Its inability t learn frm histryD. Its preference fr prfessinal candidates.
      15. What culd be the best title fr the text?
      A. LLMs: Reliable r Risky?B. LLMs: The Future r a Passing Trend?
      C. LLMs fr Researchers: Friends r Enemies?D. LLMs in Science: Enhancement r Decline?
