      1. Cmb the plt f the nvel by skimming and scanning fr specific infrmatin;
      2. Summarize the characters’ persnalities accrding t their actins and wrds;
      3. Grasp the three elements f a nvel and the features f O.Henry-style endings.
      教学重点
      1.掌握小说三要素(setting、characters、plt):学生需要通过阅读文本,准确找出故事发生的时间、地点等背景设置;识别主要人物;梳理故事的情节发展。
      2.总结人物性格:依据人物的言行来分析人物的性格特点,用恰当的形容词准确描述人物性格,培养学生的文本分析能力和批判性思维。
      3.理解欧·亨利式结尾的特点:通过对《二十年后》故事结尾的分析,让学生领会欧·亨利式结尾的意外性和合理性,感受其独特魅力。
      二、教学难点
      1.准确总结人物性格:学生可能会因为对文本理解不深入或缺乏分析人物的方法,而难以用恰当的形容词全面、准确地描述人物性格。 需要引导学生关注人物的具体言行、心理活动等细节,进行深入分析。
      2.理解并欣赏欧·亨利式结尾:这种结尾方式较为独特,学生可能一开始难以理解其意外性背后的合理性,以及体会其对整个故事的意义和价值。需要通过引导学生反复品味结尾,分析其与前文的联系,以及对读者产生的影响,来加深理解。

      S:Jimmy was the pliceman. He turned up as they agreed twenty years earlier, but he decided t fulfill his duty and have Bb arrested.

In these endings, there will be a sudden twist that results in an unexpected change, thus creating an unexpected yet understandable result. Such endings will make the stry mre attractive and impressive, as well as mre unfrgettable fr its readers.
