      Scientists have built wrking memristrs (忆阻器) - circuitry elements that "remember" their past electrical activity - frm the rt-like part f a mushrm called the mycelium. The result is a memristr with perfrmance cmparable t that f a silicn-based chip, but it has its wn benefits in ways many cmputer cmpnents tday d nt.
      "Being able t develp micrchips that act like real brain cells means yu dn’t need a lt f pwer when the machine isn’t being used," says lead researcher Jhn LaRcc f Ohi State University. "That can bring a huge ptential advantage."
      Scientists have thught abut using mushrms as cmputer parts, mstly because fungal netwrks wrk in ways similar t neural systems. They have a similar structure. And they send infrmatin using electrical and chemical signals, just like a brain. But the fact that they aren’t actually brains means sme engineering is needed t make them d what scientists need them t d.
      The team grew the mushrm mycelium under cntrlled cnditins. Then they dried the samples in sunlight t ensure lng-term stability. Finally, they cnnected them t a circuit t test their perfrmance. "We wuld cnnect electrical wires at different pints n the mushrms," LaRcc says. "Depending n the vltage (电压) and cnnectivity, we were seeing different perfrmances."
      The researchers achieved a perfrmance f 5,850 Hertz, with an accuracy f 90 percent frm their mushrm memristr - that is, it switches signals at a speed f abut 5,850 times per secnd.
