An experimental pair f glves isn’t particularly fashinable r useful fr keeping anyne’s hands warm. Instead the glves use tactile(触觉的) sensrs wven int its fabric t serve an entirely different purpse: teaching pian and ther hands-n skills.
Massachusetts Institute f Technlgy graduate student Yiyue Lu and her clleagues created these “smart glves” using tactile technlgy, which includes physical sensatins such as vibratins(震动) r frce t help with tactile activities. Researchers used the glves t recrd ne pianist’s hand mvements while playing a sng. They then relayed thse mvements t a student thrugh fingertip vibratins, helping the learner build muscle memry and perfrm the piece with greater accuracy. “Hand-based mvements like pian playing are nrmally really subjective and difficult t recrd and transfer,” Lu says. “But with these glves we are actually able t track ne persn’s tuch experience and share it with anther persn t imprve their tactile learning prcess.”
Using a cmputerized embridery(刺绣) machine, the team fixed small wires linked t a pressure-sensing material in the glves t detect hand mtins. When a pian teacher wearing the glves repeatedly perfrmed a tune, a machine-learning algrithm(运算法则) prcessed their mvement n the keys and translated it int instructinal vibratins. Students wearing their wn glves then attempted t play the same tune, with the fingertip vibratins guiding them thrugh prper mvements. By the trials’ end, students wh had practiced with the glves culd play mre accurately than thse wh had nt.
The team als tested the glves’ ability t aid peple playing nline games with a muse and keybard, recrding mtins frm experienced players t guide green hands. Peple wh gamed with the glves’ guidance scred better n average than thse wh did nt.
Playing pian r vide games is ften just fr fun, but Lu adds that with an imprved algrithm, cded t identify and catch finer hand mvements, the new glve technlgy culd smeday help t teach crucial practices such as medical peratins.
In which practice can the smart glves be unavailable?
A. Playing the guitar. B. Singing sngs.
C. Teaching sign language. D. Typing n a keybard.

The glves have been put int use.
The glves can be used t identify cdes.
The glves will be used in mre fields.
What is the text mainly abut?

In an era when nline misinfrmatin is seemingly everywhere and bjective facts are ften in argument, UC Berkeley psychlgists in a new study have presented a smewhat cntradictry partial slutin: Expse yung children t mre misinfrmatin nline—nt less.
Ortici, a Ph.D. student in UC Berkeley’s Department f Psychlgy, and his clleagues used a pair f experiments invlving 122 children aged fur t seven t test hw their level f skepticism(怀疑) changed in different nline envirnments.
The first study expsed them t an e-bk with varying degrees f true and false statements abut animals. Next t a picture f a zebra, fr example, sme children were shwn truths like that zebras had black and white stripes. Others were shwn falsehds abut zebras being red and green. Based n that infrmatin, they indicated whether the claims were true r false. A secnd study simulated(模拟) search engine results and psed similar animal facts and fictins.
Next, children evaluated the truth f a new claim within that same digital cntext, this time abut an alien species called Zrpies. On a screen were images f 20 s-called Zrpies. One f the alien’s faces shwed that it had three eyes; the rest f the Zrpies wre dark sunglasses that cvered their eyes. Children were then asked t decide whether all Zrpies had three eyes. But befre making their final decisin, participants were allwed t fact-check the claim by tapping any number f the aliens, remving their sunglasses and revealing their eyes. Since children knew nthing abut the aliens, their skepticism culd nly cme frm their assessment f hw reliable this digital platfrm was.
Researchers fund that the children wh were the mst hardwrking abut fact-checking the Zrpies claims were als the nes wh saw mre false claims abut animals earlier in the study. Meanwhile, thse wh had mre reliable envirnments with fewer false claims earlier in the study did almst n fact-checking. A cmputer simulatin cnfirmed that the children in the mre unreliable envirnments were mre likely t reveal ptential misinfrmatin.
What d psychlgists recmmend t help children deal with nline misinfrmatin?
A. T leave them in a less prtected infrmatin envirnment.
B. T help them srt ut different kinds f infrmatin.
C. T require them t cllect sme useful infrmatin.
D. T help them develp the ability f the critical thinking.
Wh will be mre likely t becme a gd fact-checker?
The children wrking harder t make statements.
The children seeing mre false claims.
The children expsed t mre digital cntexts.
The children expsed t mre reliable envirnments.
Hw were the experiments cnducted?
By making cmparisns.
By making questinnaires.
By analyzing dcuments.
By interviewing participants.
What can we learn frm the experiments?
They were carried ut thrugh the same nline digital platfrm.
Participants can tap the number f Zrpies t get true infrmatin.
Participants can remve the sunglasses fr reference.
They bth presented false infrmatin t the participants.

Essays are an extended piece f writing that presents an argument r infrmatin n a tpic. They can vary in purpse, style and type but they all invlve questining, assessing and discussing ideas r evidence. Here are fur tips n hw t write an essay: intrducing yur essay, fcusing n it structure, using qutes and surces, and ending with a cnclusin.
A gd intrductin explains the facts that the reader needs t knw first. 36 Be clear abut yur aims and always write in the third persn. It’s a gd idea t begin yur essay using the same style f language as the questin, t shw yu are answering it directly.
37 Paragraphs can help. Start with a “tpic sentence” that intrduces what the paragraph is abut. At the end, bring yur tpic t a clse s the reader can mve n t the next idea. 38 They cnnect it t the previus ne.
If yu used ideas frm a bk in yur essay, yu can include snippets(片段) frm it t supprt yur pints. These are qutes and have speech marks arund them t shw they are nt yur wrds. 39 Fr example, “Dr Rberts says, ‘Climate change is...’”. At the end f the essay, yu can list all the bks that helped yu.
In yur final paragraph, yu shuld cnclude by summarising all yur pints t shw hw yu have answered the essay questin. Yu might begin this sectin with “In cnclusin,” and yur tne shuld be cnfident. 40
Yu shuld als share wh said it.
It helps readers imprve their writing skills.
T help the reader fllw yur ideas, yu need structure.
Writing essays is an unavidable but fun part f studying lts f subjects.
It sums up what the essay will be abut and what yu are trying t prve.
Here yu can write in the first persn and give yur wn pinin n the tpic.
Yu can use wrds such as “hwever” r “furthermre” t start a new paragraph.
