Early memries have the pwer t shape wh yu are. Unfrtunately, in my life, many f my frmative mments centered arund my struggles with bdy image.
Fr mst f my life, I have been highly cnscius f thers’ perceptins f my appearance. Whenever I’m arund smene I dn’t knw well, I actively use bdy language t make myself appear thinner. When I was in furth grade, I remember asking my best friend, “D yu think I’m fat?” She respnded, “N, f curse nt.” But her respnse didn’t cmfrt me. Since then, I have been vigilant f my bdy; I realized that the way I see myself isn’t the same as hw thers see me.
Hearing peple talk abut weight gain as a negative has affected hw I feel abut myself. One friend used t tell me I’m n “the gd side f plus-sized.” All it des is tell me that I’m verweight. In middle schl, I felt like I had t prve t my friends that I was active and healthy. And even tday, I wrry ver nrmal weight changes, all t try and avid peple sharing their “cncerns” with my size.
Discussing bdy image is difficult. What I have fund is that being allwed t speak penly withut judgment builds my self-cnfidence, because I feel that my vice is being heard. I am beginning t listen t my bdy and understand hw it wrks. I hpe t stp veranalyzing and build cnfidence — nt thrugh a number n the scale, but thrugh self-acceptance.
      4. What des the authr realize after talking t her best friend?
      A. Her friend truly understd her wrries. B. She needed t lse weight immediately.
      C. Her self-image differed frm thers’ views. D. Her appearance was bjectively unattractive.

      A. Slightly cnscius. B. Extremely aware.
      C. Cmpletely cnfident. D. Cmfrtably familiar.
      6. Hw did her friend’s wrds “the gd side f plus-sized” affect the authr?
      A. It cnfirmed her fear f being verweight. B. It prvided cmfrt abut her appearance.
      C. It mtivated her t exercise mre regularly. D. It helped her t understand bdy psitivity.
      7. What is the main message f the passage?
      A. Scial apprval determines persnal wrth. B. Childhd experiences cannt be vercme.
      C. Weight lss shuld be the primary health gal. D. Self-acceptance matters mre than appearance.
      C
Accrding t a recent discvery, a female msquit’s bld-sucking feeding tube (口器) makes fr a great high-reslutin 3D printer spray tip. A team f researchers at McGill University in Mntréal was lking fr ideas t create a tiny, lw-cst, and sustainable 3D printing tip, and this msquit bdy part seems t be almst perfect fr the jb.
TechXplre reprts that these tips can be used fr 3D printing extremely fine bjects, with smth surfaces, ideal fr air and space industries, dentistry, and bimedical research. Such high-precisin 3D printing tips usually cme at a high cst. The surce suggests they are typically priced at arund $80 per tip. Mrever, current cmmercial tips that meet this standard are made f either nn-bidegradable plastic r metal.
We’ve seen plenty f interesting bi-inspired technlgies ahead f this new methd frm McGill. But this new printing methd is nt simply bi-inspired but reuses natural bdy parts. The researchers studied ther bilgical dnrs befre settling n the msquit. Stingers frm bees, sharp teeth frm snakes, water-carrying tubes in plants, and even tiny needles frm insects like snails were alternative high-reslutin 3D printing ptins, but the female msquit’s feeding tube wn the day.
The female msquit’s tube has many qualities that make it well-suited fr 3D printing. Accrding t the researchers, its inner width is just 20 micrmeters. This is 100% finer than the best human-made tips. These bidegradable tips are als remarkably straight, and stable. Hwever, printing tips are imprved by using 3D-printed supprting structures t help fix the prblem f lw mechanical strength.
The McGill scientists said their wrk paves the way fr fresh advances in manufacturing and micr-engineering supprted by 3D printing. They haven’t settled yet, thugh, and will cntinue t lk int ther natural ptins fr strnger and finer 3D printing tips.
      8. Why did the researchers explre msquit bdy parts?
      A. T test insects’ bilgical functins. B. T reduce the use f metal materials.
      C. T design a mre affrdable 3D printer. D. T develp a 3D printer that wrks fast.
      9. What is the purpse f mentining ther animals in paragraph 3?
      A. T demnstrate the bidiversity in nature.
      B. T explain hw insects are used in engineering.
      C. T cmpare the feeding habits f different animals.
      D. T highlight the prcess f selecting the final slutin.
      10. What feature makes the msquit’s tube suitable fr 3D printing?
      A. Its ability t change shape freely. B. Its particularly narrw inner width.
      C. Its resistance t severe temperatures. D. Its naturally high mechanical strength.
      11. What can be inferred frm the last paragraph abut the research?
      A. It has already reached its final stage. B. It n lnger relies n bilgical materials.
      C. It will sn replace cmmercial printing tips. D. It culd pen drs t new fine-scale manufacturing.
      D
Fr years, we tld yung peple the future was theirs if they learned t cde. Schls fcused mre n technical training, while humanities (人文) curses were gradually reduced. As a result, many students were prepared mainly fr technical tasks rather than brader learning. Nw AI writes the cde, studies the data, and answers questins nce given t new wrkers. But the real challenge lies nt in the wrk itself, but in hw students are being prepared fr it. When AI takes ver many entry-level tasks, fewer chances are left fr balanced early develpment.
Rather than a breakdwn, this change marks a crrectin. The jbs that remain need qualities that AI cannt fully prvide, including judgment, empathy, ways f thinking. Machines can prcess infrmatin, but humans still decide what matters. Experience was nce earned thrugh ding real tasks r understanding hw thers feel in a situatin. But if AI takes ver tasks that nce shaped these human qualities, they must be develped thrugh intentinal educatin. That means educatin shuld fcus n helping students think mre deeply and make thughtful judgments.
While autmatin accelerates, the humanities shrink. In the U.S., the share f humanities degrees has fallen frm 17 percent in the 1960s t under 9 percent tday. Once seen as prgress, this change nw lks shrtsighted. Caring abut thers, explaining ideas clearly, understanding different cultures, and slving prblems in creative ways have becme especially imprtant at wrk. These abilities are frmed in literature, histry, scilgy, and philsphy.
In a wrld where AI can answer almst anything, the real value lies in knwing what t ask, hw t frame it, and why it matters. T prepare fr a wrld where machines can d many tasks but nt the deeper thinking, we must build a strng base again — ne that encurages lng-term thinking rather than shrt-term efficiency. Humanities shuld return t the center f educatin, nt as a return t the past, but as a necessary balance in the age f AI. We ptimized a generatin fr technical efficiency, and efficiency became rdinary. Nw we must cultivate what cannt be autmated, thse that make us human.
      12. What is the authr mainly cncerned in the first paragraph?
      A. Universities adjusting their teaching prgrams.
      B. Yung peple having n access t digital tls.
C Students’ preparatin becming mre ne-sided.
      D. Entry-level wrk remaining unchanged fr years.
      13. What d the remaining jbs require?
      A. Lng wrking hurs. B. Physical strength and speed.
      C. Human emtins and thughts. D. Basic cmputer technlgies.
      14. What shuld educatin help peple learn t d?
      A. Use mre advanced AI-assisted tls. B. Lk at the lng run and think mre deeply.
      C. Rebuild their memries f knwledge. D. Knw hw t ask AI t handle everything.
      15. What can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. Why Humanities Still matter in the Age f AI
      B. Is AI a Big Threat t Our Traditinal Educatin
      C. Hw Technlgy Will Replace Entry-Level Jbs
      D. The Decline f Philsphy in Mdern Universities

In a beautiful castal village lived a girl named Maya. Maya’s wrld was made f music: the crash f waves, the cry f seagulls (海鸥), and the whistle f fishing bats became ntes inside her mind. She cllected these sunds n a tiny recrder, then lcked herself in her rm, weaving them int sngs that n ne ever heard.
Maya was nt shy in the usual way — she culd help her mther sell fish at the market r jke with her friends in the classrm — but when it came t her music, she shrank int herself, quiet and unseen.
One evening, the village psted an annuncement n the nticebard: the first “Sea-Sng Cmpetitin” wuld be held n June 8th. Every entry wuld be perfrmed live and scred by three judges n the spt. What was mre, the winner wuld step nstage t receive a big seashell (贝壳) as an award, and frm that night n, the winning sng wuld be played every night as ships returned.
Despite her excitement, her fear flded back. That night, Maya sat amng the nets, her recrder in hand, asking the tide, “What if I’m nt gd enugh?” The tide answered with its usual silence — neither yes nr n.
Fr days, Maya struggled with her dubts, but deep dwn, she knew she had t try. Her father fund her staring at the silent recrder. He did nt ffer cmpliments (赞美); instead, he said, “The sng desn’t need t be perfect; it just needs t be yurs.” Encuraged by her father, wh always believed in her talent, she decided t enter the cmpetitin.
Fr weeks, Maya rse befre dawn, hiking t the beach where she captured the sund f rlling waves and the wind whistling thrugh brken seashells. She spent every free mment wrking n her piece. It began with the slw breathing f the sea at dusk, added the beat f her mther’s ld drum, then the sng turned int a tune that felt like seagulls wheeling against a rising mn. Inside, three judges sat at a lng table. “Title?” a wman asked. “Return,” Maya said sftly. The lady smiled, pressed the “play” buttn n Maya’s tiny recrder, and the rm filled with the sund f waves, drumbeats, and seagull cries. Maya held her breath. When the music ended, anther judge lked up and said, “Thank yu. We’ll remember this.” Maya ndded, tk back her recrder, and walked ut, heart punding but lighter than befre.
Finally, it was time fr the winners t be annunced. Maya’s heart raced. The judges stepped ut with a micrphne and said, “Third place… secnd place…” Each name made the crwd clap. Then ne judge paused and smiled. “First place — Maya, with Return!” The crwd cheered. Maya’s dad lifted her nt the stage. Maya received a big seashell and tk the micrphne, her vice shaking but clear: “Thank yu, Dad, fr telling me the sng nly had t be mine. Yu std by me when I dubted myself, yu taught me t be brave, and yu shwed me what matters mst.” The bats answered with lng whistles, as if the sea itself were applauding.
