This lessn is a reading article abut sharks. This article intrduces dangerus sharks, endangered sharks, and sharks needing t be prtected. It takes the mvie Jaws, peple’s different attitudes t sharks, what Peter Benchley, the man wh wrte the bk the film Jaws was based n, experienced, and the evidence experts gave fr example, develping by time. Key wrds are mainly related t sharks and prtectin, such as shark, scare, due t, fin, dive, target, frtunately, extinctin, attitude, etc. Grammar mainly invlves -ing and -ed as cmplement. The value rientatin f this article lies in the students' understanding f dangerus sharks, endangered sharks, sharks needing t be prtected, as well as shwing respect fr sharks and raising awareness f prtecting sharks and marine animals thrugh the study f this article.

The students in this class have a gd English fundatin, study hard and have high enthusiasm fr learning English. Students already have the ability t btain details in reading, and sme students can express their views cnfidently in English. Hwever, mst students lack the ability t understand and integrate knwledge, lgical reasning and analytical argumentatin, as well as critical evaluatin. In additin, althugh students have a certain degree f understanding f dangerus and endangered sharks and sharks needing t be prtected, they d nt have a cmprehensive understanding f shwing respect fr sharks and raising awareness f prtecting sharks and marine animals.

Lk at these pictures abut sharks and answer the questin: Use sme wrds t describe what yu see.
Tip 1: Use sme adjectives.
Aims: T intrduce the tpic(Sharks is dangerus r endangered?) and make students put the enthusiasm fr the class.
Stage Ⅱ Pre-reading (Fast reading / 5 mins / PW / IW)
Step 1 Main idea: read the passage and answer the fllwing questins.
1. Read the passage quickly and analyze the structure f it.
Paras. 1-2 Sharks are dangerus.
Paras. 3-4 Sharks are endangered.
Paras. 5 Sharks need t be prtected.

Taiji cve hunt: Japan starts cntrversial dlphin hunt
Japan has started its cntrversial annual dlphin hunt in the castal twn f Taiji. The hunt sees the animals driven int a cve where mst are slaughtered(屠杀) fr their meat with knives in shallw waters. Other dlphins are sld t aquariums(水族馆) and marine parks.
The Taiji hunt has been carried ut fr decades and gained glbal attentin when it was the subject f the Oscar-winning dcumentary The Cve in 2009. Japan this year als resumed(began again) catching whales fr prfit, in defiance f(against) internatinal criticism.
This year's Taiji hunt kicked ff(began) n Sunday, but accrding t Japanese media the bats returned withut any dlphins. Accrding t envirnmentalist grup The Dlphin Prject, five Riss's dlphins were killed n Mnday. The verall quta fr the seasn allws fr mre than 1,700 animals t be killed r captured.
Envirnmentalists say the drive hunt is extremely cruel and the dlphins can take up t 30 minutes t die by suffcatin(窒息) r drwning. Yet the fisherman frm Taiji say the cmmunity's livelihd depends n the trade. The dlphin hunting seasn is expected t last fr abut six mnth.
Demand fr dlphin and whale meat has been n the decline ver the past years and bth have been fund t have unhealthy levels f mercury(水银). Animals caught alive and sld t marine parks fetch a far higher price than the meat yet there is grwing pressure n the parks nt t buy dlphins captured in Taiji.
Japan has already cme under criticism this year fr resuming cmmercial whaling after it left the Internatinal Whaling Cmmissin (IWC). Cmmercial whaling ships left prt n 1 July this year and the first whales have already been killed and sld.
Under an IWC mratrium(暂停), whaling had effectively been banned since 1986. Japan thugh had never fully stpped whaling - it has been cnducting what it said were research missins killing hundreds f animals each year.

1.Taiji cve: Taiji, is a twn in Tmu Prefecture, Kakayama Prefecture, Japan. It is knwn fr whale and dlphins hunting.
2.The Oscar-winning dcumentary The Cve: The Cve, sht in 2009, recrds the annual dlphin killing f lcal fishermen in Taiji, Japan, and wn the Oscar fr best dcumentary feature film in 2010.
