Nrmal cement (水泥) tends t absrb infrared radiatin (红外线) frm the sun and stre it as heat, which can increase the temperature inside cement buildings as well as that f the surrunding air. S Fengyin Du, then at Sutheast University in Nanjing, China, and her clleagues decided t address this by creating a new cement in which tiny reflective crystals f a mineral cllect n the surface.
The team’s cement emits infrared light frm its surface, rather than string it, and s lses heat quickly. “It wrks like a mirrr and a radiatr, s it can reflect sunlight away and send heat ut int the sky, s a building can stay cler withut any air cnditining r electricity,” says Du.
In the labratry, the researchers first prduce tiny balls frm cmmn minerals like limestne and gypsum. These are grund t dust and mixed with water befre being pured int a silicne muld (硅胶模具) cvered in small hles. Air bubbles passing thrugh the hles create slight depressins in the cement’s surface, where the reflective crystals can then grw, while an aluminium-rich substance in the set cement lets infrared light pass thrugh the material.
Ecnmically, this new cement hlds an advantage, csting $5 per tnne less than nrmal cement, as Du ntes its prductin requires lwer temperatures. Du and her team tested hw their cement kept cl n a ht rf at Purdue University in Indiana, which jintly hsted Du’s PhD prject, finding that the surface temperature was 5.4℃ lwer than the air and 26℃ lwer than the nrmal cement.
“It’s a useful material,” says Oscar Brusse at University Cllege Lndn. “Yu increase the reflective capacity as well as increasing the emissivity, s any energy that is captured r cnducted t the material is emitted efficiently back.”
Hwever, measuring nly the surface temperature f the material desn’t tell us hw it will perfrm in the real wrld, says Brusse, s it shuld underg further testing. “It desn’t mean that because the surface is 5℃ lwer, that the air temperature will be 5℃ lwer arund it. The effect lcally may be greatly limited.”
28. What des the underlined wrd “this” in Paragraph 1 refer t?
A. The rising indr temperature.B. The absrbed infrared radiatin.
C. The heat strage f nrmal cement.D. The use f reflective mineral crystals.
29. Hw des the new cement achieve cling effect?
A. It reflects sunlight and emits heat.B. It lets cl air int minerals.
C. It lcks infrared with air bubbles.D. It creates pressure n the surface.
30. What is the strength f the new cement?
A. Replacing air cnditining.B. Reducing air temperature.
C. Wrking best n Indiana rfs.D. Lwering prductin cst.
31. What is Brusse’s attitude twards the new cement?
A. Objective.B. Indifferent.C. Pessimistic.D. Disapprving.

根据第一段“Nrmal cement (水泥) tends t absrb infrared radiatin (红外线) frm the sun and stre it as heat, which can increase the temperature inside cement buildings as well as that f the surrunding air.(普通水泥会吸收来自太阳的红外线并将其转化为热量储存起来,这会导致水泥建筑内部以及周围空气的温度升高)”可知,普通水泥会吸收并储存热量,导致建筑及周边升温,后文“address this”即指解决这一问题,“this”指代普通水泥的储热问题。
根据第二段“The team’s cement emits infrared light frm its surface, rather than string it, and s lses heat quickly. “It wrks like a mirrr and a radiatr, s it can reflect sunlight away and send heat ut int the sky, s a building can stay cler withut any air cnditining r electricity,” says Du.(该团队研发的这种水泥从其表面会释放出红外线,而非储存红外线,因此能够迅速散失热量。杜说:“它就像一面镜子和一个散热器的结合体,能够将阳光反射出去,并将热量散发到空中,这样建筑物就能在无需空调或电力的情况下保持凉爽。”)”可知,这种新型水泥能反射阳光并散发热量实现降温效果。故选A。
根据第四段“Ecnmically, this new cement hlds an advantage, csting $5 per tnne less than nrmal cement, as Du ntes its prductin requires lwer temperatures.(从经济角度来看,这种新型水泥具有优势,其每吨的成本比普通水泥低5美元,因为其生产过程所需的温度更低。正如杜所指出的那样)”可知,这种新型水泥可以降低生产成本。故选D。
【31题详解】
推理判断题。根据第五段“It’s a useful material(这是一种有用的材料)”以及最后一段“Hwever, measuring nly the surface temperature f the material desn’t tell us hw it will perfrm in the real wrld, says Brusse, s it shuld underg further testing.(不过,布罗塞表示,仅仅测量材料的表面温度并不能让我们了解其在实际环境中的表现情况,因此该材料还需要进行进一步的测试)”可知,布罗塞对这种新型水泥持客观态度。故选A。

The rapid advancement f AI is transfrming wrkplaces by autmating repetitive tasks. Hwever, experts warn f a heavy lng-term burden: Cgnitive Debt. This debt arises when we transfer all cdified knwledge (显性知识) t machines, rbbing future generatins f the significant pprtunities t learn thrugh direct practice, achieve mastery, and ultimately gain creative freedm.
This cncern is strngly supprted by recent labr market data. American studies shw yung wrkers have seen significant emplyment drps in AI-expsed fields like custmer service and sftware develpment, while seasned emplyees are less impacted. This pattern indicates that AI is mainly targeting the basic tasks that nce served as essential rles fr prfessinal develpment. These were the tasks that allwed newcmers t gain hands-n experience, making them the raw material fr building expertise. By remving them, the AI revlutin is skipping the fundatinal stage f career grwth fr an entire generatin.
The rt f this burden lies in human learning psychlgy. Mastery cmes frm cntinuing practice and trial-and-errr. When AI takes ver basic tasks— like technical analysis, yung prfessinals are reduced t merely checking the machine’s utput. They miss the necessary difficulties, mistakes, and repetitin required t acquire tacit knwledge— the knwledge that n textbk can teach. This absence f deep internalized learning is the cre reasn fr which cgnitive debt accumulates (累积) .
T address this, researchers prpse guiding principles. First, cmpanies must value repetitive wrk as a necessary “cgnitive investment” rather than a chre (琐事) . Secnd, wrkflws need rethinking. As AI autmates existing tasks, cmpanies must actively create new learning ccupatins fr yung prfessinals t practice, make mistakes, and transitin frm learners t innvatrs. Finally, intergeneratinal respnsibility is key— cmpanies must cnsider bth immediate benefits and future csts fr the next generatin’s learning and skill acquisitin.
In shrt, embracing AI is necessary, but we must avid ding harm t a generatin intellectually. Preserving hands-n learning ensures technlgical prgress desn’t destry the fundatins f human mastery and innvatin.
32. What can we learn frm the recent labr market?
A. AI replaces basic wrk fr accuracy.B. Basic tasks are valued mre than ever.
C. Experienced emplyees benefit mst frm AI.D. Yung wrkers are lsing vital learning chances.
33. What is the majr cause f cgnitive debt?
A. Making frequent mistakes.B. Lack f internalized learning.
C. Human learning psychlgy.D. Dependence n repetitive wrk.
34. Hw can cmpanies tackle cgnitive debt accumulatin?
A. Priritize immediate benefits f autmatin.B. Add learning-fcused psitins fr practice.
C. Reduce yung prfessinals’ repetitive tasks.D. Train AI t perfrm all basic cgnitive wrk.
35. What is the authr’s purpse in writing the text?
A. T advcate thughtful integratin f AI.B. T intrduce hw cgnitive debt wrks.
C. T analyze hw AI affects labr market.D. T prmte AI’s applicatin int wrkplaces.

前文“The abslute best way t keep yurself running is t find a race, sign up fr it, pay fr it and put it n yur calendar. (让自己持续跑步的最佳方式是找到一场比赛,报名参加,支付费用,并将其列入日程表。)”核心建议是 “找一场比赛、报名、付费并写进日程表”,强调固定比赛日期对坚持跑步的作用;后文“A beginner can run any race — yu just need t allw enugh time t train fr it.(初学者可以参加任何比赛——你只需要留出足够的时间进行训练即可。)” 空格处需解释“报名比赛并定好日期”的意义,F项“A fixed race date will help yu stay fcused and run regularly.( 确定一个固定的比赛日期将有助于您保持专注并定期跑步。)”
前文“Sme peple are natural heel-strikers whse heels tuch the grund first while thers tend t lead with their tes.( 有些人是天生的脚跟着地者,他们的脚跟先着地,而其他人则倾向于用脚趾起跑。)”介绍两种跑步落地方式 —— 脚跟先着地、脚尖先着地;后文“And yu are less likely t becme injured if yu simply maintain yur natural stride.( 如果你只是保持自己的自然步态,就不太可能受伤。)” 空格处需衔接两种落地方式,且体现“无需刻意改变”的核心,G 项“The gd news: neither frm is necessarily better than the ther.( 好消息是:两种形式都不一定比另一种好。)”

后文“While there has been recent evidence that static stretching — hlding a stretch fr a perid f time— can prevent serius muscle injuries like tears r strains, such types f injuries are uncmmn in runners. In fact, hlding a stretch t lng can even make yur muscles less pwerful.(虽然最近有证据表明,静态拉伸(即保持某个拉伸姿势一段时间)能够预防严重的肌肉损伤,如撕裂或拉伤,但这类损伤在跑步者中并不常见。事实上,拉伸时间过长甚至会使你的肌肉力量下降。)”说“静态拉伸虽能预防严重肌肉损伤,但这类损伤在跑步者中很少见,且拉伸过久会降低肌肉力量”,核心观点是无需刻意做长时间静态拉伸。空格处需作为段首主旨句,概括该观点,E项“Yu dn’t have t waste yur time stretching n the radside.( 您不必在路边浪费时间做伸展运动。)”

故填What。
