      The Secret Garden (A summary f Frances Hdgsn Burnett’s The Secret Garden)In this stry, Mary Lennx, a spiled and selfish10-year-ld girl ges t live with her uncle, Mr Craven, after her parents pass away. Her uncle has a huge huse, but he is seldm there. Mary spends a lt f time alne and gets bred. At night she ften hears crying cming frm smewhere.
      One day, Mary hears abut a beautiful garden. It belnged t her uncle's wife. After she died, the garden became a painful memry fr him, s he lcked it up. N ne has seen it fr ten years. One mrning, Mary finds an ld key. When it unlcks a half-hidden dr, she discvers the secret garden inside! Unfrtunately, nbdy has taken care f the plants, and therefre, much f it is in a bad state.Later, Mary tells her secret t a new friend, Dickn. The yung by knws a lt abut gardening, and they wrk tgether t make the garden beautiful again. One night, Mary hears smene crying again and discvers Clin, her cusin. He is unhappy and weak because he has lived alne in a hidden rm since his mther's death. He has nt walked fr years because he thinks he has an illness. Mary and Dickn tell him stries abut the garden and take him secretly t see it.
      Over time, Clin grws strnger. The fresh air and beautiful garden are gd fr him, and he prves that he is nt ill when he gets t his feet fr the first time in years! The three friends spend time tgether in the garden and grw happier day by day. In the end, Mary's uncle returns hme. T his great surprise, he sees Clin walking and running, and he discvers that the secret garden has becme as alive and beautiful as it ever was!

      My favurite bk is The Old Man and the Sea. It was written in 1952 by the American writer Ernest Hemingway. The bk became ppular very quickly. In 1953,it wn the Pulitzer Prize.
      The main character is a fisherman wh hasn't caught anything fr mnths. One day he catches a huge fish, but he has t fight fr days t kill it. He finally succeeds, but he can't pull the fish nt his bat. When the fisherman is n his way back, sharks eat the fish, leaving nthing but bnes. This bk has taught me nt t give up r dubt myself. I‘m inspired by hw hard the fisherman fights, even thugh he lses the fish in the end. As Hemingway said, “Man is nt made fr defeat. A man can be destryed but nt defeated.” Even thugh I've already read the bk three times, I'm nt tired f it yet. If yu've never read Ernest Hemingway, I recmmend this bk.

He is unhappy and weak because he has lived alne in a hidden rm since his mther's death. 他情绪低落、身体虚弱,因为自从母亲去世后,他就一直独自住在一间隐蔽的房间里。(1)weak作形容词,意为“虚弱的”,可在句中作表语或定语,反义词为strng,意为“强壮的”。the weak意为“弱者”,相当于the weak peple。She was brn with a weak heart. 她天生心脏不好。We are willing t help the pr and the weak. 我们愿意去帮助穷人与弱者。(2)weak作形容词,还可以表示“(能力)弱的”,be weak in表示“在……方面差或弱”。That by is weak in speaking English. 那个男孩不擅长说英语。
