      Hw One Girl Saved Many Lives On 26 December 2004, Tilly Smith, a 10-year-ld English schlgirl, and her family were n hliday in Phuket, Thailand. Everyne was enjying the beautiful weather that mrning. Sme peple were swimming in the sea, and sme were relaxing n the beach. But while Tilly was waiting alng the beach with her family, she nticed smething strange. Thick white frth was frming n tp f the waves. Next, she saw that the waves were cming in instead f ging ut.
      Just then, she remembered smething imprtant. Tw weeks befre, her gegraphy teacher had explained that earthquakes under the sea culd create dangerus waves called tsunamis! “I knw what’s ging t happen! There’s ging t be a big wave,” Tilly cried. Unfrtunately, her family didn’t believe her and wanted t cntinue their walk. Hwever, Tilly refused t take a single step further. Finally, her mther decided t cntinue the walk alne, and the rest f her family returned t the htel.Back at the htel, Tilly’s father tld a security guard abut the tsunami. The security guard was shcked. He knew

Peple were screaming and running as fast as they culd when they saw a huge wall f water cming frm the sea.Tilly was right! Her mther was ne f the last peple n the beach, but thankfully, her family made it t safety just as the water hit the htel. The 2004 tsunami caused ver 200,000 deaths, but n ne n the beach died that day.This true stry shws hw a single lessn culd mean the difference between life and death. Thanks t her knwledge and quick thinking, ne schlgirl was able t save ver 100 lives.
