Part f the answer cmes frm ptics (光学). Vilet light has the shrtest wavelength n the spectrum (光谱) f visible light, right next t the unseen ultravilet (紫外光), which nly ur skin detects. With its shrt wavelength and high frequency, the clr purple cntains the highest energy f all visible light. Symblically, we can think f purple as the brder between the visible and the invisible. Evlutin als favrs purple. As hunters and gatherers, early humans were drawn t variatins f purple fr the purpse f detecting eatable ripe fruit against the backdrp f green leaves.
Purple’s significance stems frm these physical and natural traits, but ur lve fr it ges beynd science. Rbert N. Kraft, a cgnitive psychlgy prfessr, analyzed interviews with purple lvers, alng with experiments and cultural evidence. A key reasn is that purple lks gd n them-all interviewees nted their purple utfits receive admiratins.

The primary way peple express their lve f purple is by wearing it, with every manner f clthing and accessries, including cats, shirts, pants, dresses, jewelry and cmputer bags. But this lve is expressed in ther ways, as well. Three f the peple interviewed said that when they mved t a different huse, they made themselves feel at hme by painting at least ne wall f their new huse purple.

AI mdels may be a bit like humans, after all.
A new study by the University f Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University reveals that large language mdels trained n ppular but lw-quality scial media cntent can suffer frm a type f “brain rt”, which is familiar t anyne wh’s scrlled X r TikTk fr t lng.
“We live in an era where infrmatin grws faster than ur attentin spans. And much f the infrmatin is designed t get clicks, nt t share truth r depth,” says Junyuan Hng, an assistant prfessr at the Natinal University f Singapre. Hng and his team fed different types f text t tw pen-surce large language mdels during pretraining. They tested the mdels with a mix f widely shared scial media psts with exaggerated language like “ww”, “lk”, r “tday nly”. The researchers then used several different evaluatin standards t measure the impact f this “junk” scial media cntent n tw pen-surce mdels.
The mdels trained n junk text experienced a kind f AI brain rt — with cgnitive decline including reduced reasning abilities and degraded memry. Accrding t tw assessment methds, the mdels als became less cnsistent with ethical (道德的) standards and mre inclined t shw psychpathic (精神错乱的) characteristics.
These results are similar t research n humans, shwing that lw-quality nline cntent has a harmful effect n peple’s cgnitive abilities. Many mdel develpers might think scial media psts are a gd surce f training data. “Training cntent may lk like expanding the amunt f data,” Hng explains. “But it can silently damage reasning abilities, ethical awareness, and the ability t fcus n lng cntexts.”
The findings als suggest that AI systems built arund scial platfrms might suffer frm quality cntrl issues if user-generated psts are used in training withut an eye tward the integrity f the psts. Hng warns that AI-generated lw-quality cntent spreading n scial media taints the data fr future mdels. Their research shws such “brain rt” cannt be fully reversed by subsequent clean training.
12. What des the “brain rt” in the study mainly refer t fr AI mdels?
A. Cgnitive decline and less cnsistent ethics.
B. Inability t deal with scial media cntent.
C. Failure t prduce lgical and cnnected text.
D. Tendency t cpy exaggerated language frm scial media.
13. What is the main finding f the study mentined in the passage?
A. AI mdels trained n scial media cntent becme mre ppular.
B. Lw-quality scial media cntent causes cgnitive decline in AI mdels.
C. Open-surce AI mdels are mre likely t be influenced by junk text.
D. Clean training can cmpletely fix AI mdels “brain rt” prblem.
14. What des the passage suggest abut the future f AI training?
A. Clean training data will n lnger be needed fr AI mdels.
B. There will be stricter quality checks n user-generated training data.
C. Develpers will stp using any scial media cntent fr training.
D. AI mdels will be trained nly n academic r prfessinal cntent.
15. Which f the fllwing can be the best title fr the text?
A. Hw t Reverse AI Cgnitive Decline Thrugh Clean Training
B. The Impact f Online Infrmatin n Human Cgnitive Abilities
C. Scial Media: A Valuable Data Surce fr Large Language Mdels
D. AI “Brain Rt”: Caused by Lw-Quality Scial Media Training Cntent
