While we race int a future where we utsurce mst f ur prblem - slving t artificial intelligence, the greatest threat is nt super intelligent machinery. It's mindlessly putting t much trust in Big Tech and nt enugh trust in the pwer f ur wn minds.
A philsphy f artful thinking is a gd way t avid this. T think artfully means t slve prblems using nt just ur brains, but als ur hands, eyes, and ears, alng with ur emtins. This apprach taps int the cgnitive(认知的) resurces that are spread thrughut ur bdies but ften g unused.
Changing hw we think is hard wrk. And it starts with a mindfulness practice. Accessing artful intelligence requires being mindful f hw we think with ur bdy, hw we use ur limbs (四肢), rgans, and emtins t make sense f the wrld. Be mindful f all the different messages yur bdy is sending yu as well as the different rles and functins yur bdily actins can play. Fr example, gesturing in cnversatins is nt just cmmunicative. These mvements ften help the speaker t smth ut their thught prcess and assist in getting the wrds ut.
Tday, Big Tech is pushing a message f artificial - intelligence craziness and fear. What makes yu stuck in it? It's seeing the same things wherever yu lk. Big Tech gives yu screens, hping that yur attentin will always be attracted by their devices. If yu want t find mre freedm in this AI - filled wrld, imprve yur ability t mindfully shift yur attentin between different bjects r levels f fcus. Remember everything is brn f a chice.
Artful thinking demands effrtful mindfulness t ensure that what we d, what we hpe t achieve by using these technlgical tls, will nt weaken ur humanity. As Thich Nhat Hanh said, “Mindful living is an art, and each f us has t train t be an artist.”
      28. What can we learn abut artful thinking?
      A. It simplifies prblem - slving.
      B. It fcuses n develping ur brains.
      C. It prevents us frm ver - relying n AI.
      D. It helps prmte high - tech machinery.
      29. What is paragraph 3 mainly abut?
      A. Benefits f artful intelligence.B. Mind - bdy awareness in thinking.
      C. Significance f being mindful.D. Scial interactin thrugh mvements.
      30. What des the authr suggest we d in the AI - filled wrld?
      A. Enhance the flexibility f attentin.B. Adapt t the rise f AI.
      C. Avid the interruptins frm Big Tech.D. Imprve the levels f fcus.
      31. What can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. Artful Thinking Advances Big Tech
      B. T Much Trust in AI Harms Our Minds
      C. Physical Actins Better Cgnitive Functins
      D. Mindfulness Keeps Us Human in the Age f AI
      D
Despite all the effrts students make t graduate with a science majr, research has shwn that mst cllege science curses prvide students with nly a fragmented (碎片化的) understanding f fundamental scientific cncepts. The teaching methd imprves memrizatin f separate facts, prceeding frm ne textbk chapter t the next withut necessarily making cnnectins between them, instead f learning hw t use the infrmatin and cnnect thse facts meaningfully.
With that in mind, we develped a series f crss - disciplinary (跨学科的) activities. In ur mst recent study, we investigated hw well cllege students culd use their chemistry knwledge t explain real - wrld bilgical phenmena. T begin with, we interviewed 28 first - year cllege students majring in sciences r engineering. All had taken bth intrductry chemistry and bilgy curses. We asked them t identify the cntent f these curses and what they believed t be the take - hme messages frm each curse. The students respnded with extensive lists f tpics, cncepts, and skills that they'd learned in class.
Fllwing that, a set f crss - disciplinary activities were designed t guide students in the use f cre chemistry ideas and knwledge t help explain real - wrld bilgical phenmena. One activity explred the impacts f cean acidificatin (海洋酸化) n seashells. Here, the students were asked t use basic chemistry ideas t explain hw the increasing level f carbn dixide in sea water is affecting shell - building marine animals such as crals, clams and ysters.
Overall, the students felt cnfident f their chemistry knwledge. Hwever, they had a harder time applying the same chemistry knwledge t explaining the bilgical phenmena. These findings highlight that a big gap remains between what students learn in their science curses and hw well prepared they are t apply that infrmatin.
The students in ur study als reprted that these activities helped them see links between the tw disciplines that they wuldn't have perceived therwise. The ability t make these cnnectins is imprtant beynd the classrm as well, because it's the basis f science literacy (科学素养). S we als came away with evidence that ur chemistry students at least wuld like t have the ability t have a deeper understanding f science and hw t apply it.
      32. What des the existing science educatin fail t d accrding t the research?
      A. Extend students' theretical knwledge.
      B. Engage students in mre utdr activities.
      C. Encurage students t enjy the learning prcess.
      D. Teach students t make cnnectins amng different subjects.
      33. What can we learn abut the student interviewees in the first step f study?
      A. They have rich academic knwledge.
      B. They pay little attentin t bilgy curses.
      C. They hardly identify the cre ideas f science.
      D. They fully understand their majr's imprtance.
      34. The activity abut cean acidificatin expects students t ______.
      A. analyse the exact cmpsitin f sea water
      B. study sme unusual phenmena under the sea
      C. cme up with practical methds t prtect sea life
      D. explain the effects f carbn dixide n sea creatures
      35. What des the authr see frm the result f the study accrding t the last
      paragraph?
      A. The need t cnnect chemistry with ther science subjects.
      B. The difficulties f fstering crss - disciplinary abilities.
      C. The ptential t prmte students' science literacy.
      D. The methd f increasing students' practical skills.
