Climbers at Qmlangma are being asked t clean up after themselves.
Qmlangma has earned the nickname (绰号) the Wrld's Highest Garbage Dump (垃圾场).
Climbing Qmlangma, the wrld's highest muntain, just becmes mre challenging.
The gvernment f Nepal is telling climbers they cannt leave trash n the trails. Each climber will
have t cme dwn the muntain with at the least 18 punds f garbage. That's the average amunt
f trash a climber leaves behind n Qmlangma.
Officials say climbers are respnsible fr their wn trash. "We are nt asking climbers t pick
up trash left by smene else," said the Nepal Turism Ministry. "We just want them t bring back
what they tk up."
Mre than 4,000 peple have reached the 29,035 - ft summit (顶峰) in the past 60 years.
Leaving trash alng the way helps climbers keep their bags light s they have energy t reach the
summit. "The trash prblem in Qmlangma is nt new." Burlakti says. "When the peple started
t climb the muntain, they started t leave their garbage there." They have left behind bttles, fd
bxes and equipment. Last year, climbers carried dwn a ttal f fur tns f trash.
The new rule came int effect in April, 2014. T make sure it is fllwed, climbers will have t
depsit mney (交保证金) befre they climb. Once they climb back dwn the muntain, fficials
will check climbers at a return camp t make sure they have the required 18 punds f trash. If they
