It was a beautiful midwinter day in Pretria. The sun shne warmly, and the air was fresh, calling us utdrs.
A friend and I went fr a walk up a small hill. Everywhere arund us the grass was a dull brwn clr, as if painted

raise cws: The rbt has fur wheels and is painted red. Researchers have named the rbt SwagBt. It can drive

The rbt uses this infrmatin t mve cws t the best areas fr eating grass. The gal t mve cws t a

SwagBt is still in develpment. It is part f a grwing mvement in agriculture twards rbtics. Farming
experts hpe rbts can make prductin mre efficient. Rbts can als reduce the need fr wrkers in places, like
Australia, where finding wrkers in areas with a lw ppulatin can be difficult.

Sme students get s nervus befre a test that they perfrm prly even if they knw the materials. Sian
Beilck, a prfessr at the University f Chicag in Illinis, has studied these highly anxius test-takers. These

leaving less mental capacity fr the exam itself.
Prfessr Beilck and anther researcher, Gerard Ramirez, have develped a pssible slutin. They suggest
that highly anxius test-takers spend ten minutes writing abut their cncerns just befre an exam.
The researchers tested the idea n a grup f twenty anxius cllege students. Participants tk tw shrt math

students wh had written abut their fears imprved their perfrmance by an average f 5%. Next, the researchers
turned t yunger students in a bilgy class. They tld them befre final exams either t write abut their feelings
r think abut things unrelated t the test. Prfessr Beilck says highly anxius students wh did the writing gt
an average grade f B+, cmpared t a B- fr thse wh did nt.
“What we shwed is that fr students with high test anxiety wh engaged in ur writing interventin (干预),
the link between their anxiety and perfrmance effectively disappeared. They perfrmed just as well as their
      第 6页/共 13页
classmates wh dn’t nrmally get nervus in these tests.”
But what if students d nt have a chance t write abut their fears immediately befre an exam? Prfessr
Beilck says students can practice the methd independently at hme r in the library and it still leads t imprved
      perfrmance.
      12. What may the students begin t wrry abut befre an exam?

      D. What kind f prblems they will meet n the test paper.
      13. What is the slutin develped by the researchers?
      A. Encuraging the students t fcus cmpletely n the test.
      B. Having the students sit quietly befre the test.
      C. Asking the students t ignre the test entirely.
      D. Letting the students write abut their wrries befre the test.
      14. Accrding t Beilck, what happened t thse wh thught abut things unrelated t the test?

C It remains useful even withut perfect cnditins.
      D. It depends heavily n the writing envirnment.
