I replied “Let me d sme research and I’ll get back t yu.”
I knew nthing abut mini pigs. I didn’t knw what they ate; and I had n idea hw big they gt. Once I started ding sme Internet research, I fund a few peple claiming that “there’s n such thing as a mini pig,” but I was blinded by my sudden bsessin and my faith in my netime friend. She had said the pig was six mnths ld and this mini pig wuld grw t be abut 70 punds, maximum. That was pretty clse t the size f Shelby, ne f my dgs. S I tld my frmer classmate that I’d take the animal.
It’s intractable enugh bringing a pig back t the huse I share with tw dgs tw cats and my husband, Derek. But I knew I wanted the pig and the day finally came. When Derek went back, he std in the drway like a statue. Every emtin ther than happiness flashed acrss his face. He was extremely angry. The nly psitive thing I culd say was, “She’s a mini pig! She’ll stay small!” Surprisingly, sn enugh, the lvely pig smthed things ver by itself. Derek started talking abut where the pig’s litter (窝)wuld g. Yu dn’t care abut “litter” f smene yu’re getting rid f.
Hwever, a few mnths later, she’d started clsing in n 80 punds. It was becming clear that I’d prbably adpted a cmmercial pig and she was ging t be enrmus. While it might be unexpected, it’s mre than wrth it fr the happiness she has added t ur wrld.

根据第一段“I replied “Let me d sme research and I’ll get back t yu”.(我回复说“让我做些研究,然后再回复你。”)”和第二段“Once I started ding sme Internet research, I fund a few peple claiming that “there’s n such thing as a mini pig”.(一旦我开始做一些网络研究,我就发现有几个人声称“没有迷你猪这种东西”。)”
根据第三段“It’s intractable enugh bringing a pig back t the huse I share with tw dgs, tw cats and my husband, Derek. But I knew I wanted the pig and the day finally came.(把一头猪带回我和两只狗、两只猫以及丈夫德里克同住的房子里,这件事已经够intractable了。
根据第三段“When Derek went back, he std in the dr way like a statue. Every emtin ther than happiness flashed acrss his face.
故选A。

Of the 8,300 millin tns f new plastic prduced up t the end f 2015, 6,300 millin tns have been thrwn away. Mst f that plastic waste is still with us, buried in landfills r plluting the envirnment. Micr plastics have been fund in Antarctic sea ice, in the guts f animals that live in the deepest cean trenches (海沟) and in drinking water arund the wrld.
But what if we culd wave a magic wand and remve all plastics frm ur lives? Fr the sake f the planet, it wuld be an attractive prspect — but we’d quickly find ut just hw far plastic has spread t every aspect f ur existence.
In hspitals, the lss f plastic wuld be disastrus. “Imagine trying t run a dialysis (透析) unit with n plastic,” says Sharn Gerge, senir lecturer in envirnmental sustainability and green technlgy at Keele University in the UK. Plastic is used in glves, tubing, bld bags, sample tubes and mre.
Sme everyday plastic items are als vital fr prtecting health. Face masks — including plastic-based surgical masks and respiratrs (呼吸面罩) — have helped slw the spread f the COVID-19 virus. “A mask that yu have fr COVID is related t ur safety and the safety f thers,” says Gerge. “The impact f taking that away culd be lss f life if yu tk it away n a big scale.”
Our fd system wuld als quickly cme apart. We use packaging t prtect fd frm damage in transit and preserve it lng enugh t reach supermarket shelves. “I cannt imagine hw plastic wuld be replaced cmpletely in ur system,” says Eleni Iacvidu, a lecturer in envirnmental management at Brunel University Lndn.
Replacing plastic packaging wuld set ff a chain reactin in the envirnment. While glass has sme advantages ver plastic, such as being endlessly recyclable, a ne-liter glass bttle can weigh as much as 800g cmpared t a 40g plastic ne. When thse heavier bttles and jars need t be transprted ver lng distances, carbn emissins grw even mre.
It’s clear that replacing ne material with anther wn’t slve all ur plastic prblems.
28. What is the purpse f the first paragraph?
A. T give a definitin.B. T reprt n a study.
C. T intrduce an argument.D. T describe a phenmenn.
29. Why des Sharn Gerge mentin a dialysis unit?
A. T shw the high cst f plastic medical prducts.
B. T illustrate plastic’s necessity in medical wrk.
C. T explain hw dialysis units are usually perated.
D. T cmpare plastic with ther medical materials.
30. What is Eleni Iacvidu’s attitude tward remving plastic ttally in fd system?
A. Dubtful.B. Supprtive.C. Optimistic.D. Uninterested.
31. What des the authr want t cnvey thrugh the text?
A. Plastic is t imprtant t human life and shuld never be replaced.
B. Medical and fd industries depend entirely n plastic fr develpment.
C. Plastic pllutin is the mst serius envirnmental issue wrldwide.
D. Slving plastic prblems requires mre than simply replacing it with ther materials.
C 29. B 30. A 31. D

第一段“Of the 8,300 millin tns f new plastic prduced up t the end f 2015, 6,300 millin tns have been thrwn away. Mst f that plastic waste is still with us, buried in landfills r plluting the envirnment.
根据第三段“In hspitals, the lss f plastic wuld be disastrus. “Imagine trying t run a dialysis (透析) unit with n plastic,” says Sharn Gerge, senir lecturer in envirnmental sustainability and green technlgy at Keele University in the UK. Plastic is used in glves, tubing, bld bags, sample tubes and mre.(在医院里,失去塑料将是灾难性。
根据第五段“Our fd system wuld als quickly cme apart. We use packaging t prtect fd frm damage in transit and preserve it lng enugh t reach supermarket shelves. “I cannt imagine hw plastic wuld be replaced cmpletely in ur system,” says Eleni Iacvidu, a lecturer in envirnmental management at Brunel University Lndn.(我们的食品系统也会很快崩溃。 故选A。
通读全文,尤其是根据第二段中“But what if we culd wave a magic wand and remve all plastics frm ur lives?(但倘若我们挥一挥魔杖,就能从生活中去除所有塑料,那会怎样呢?)”、最后一段“It’s clear that replacing ne material with anther wn’t slve all ur plastic prblems.(显然,用一种材料代替另一种材料并不能解决我们所有的塑料问题。)”
