As the year prgressed, it came time t teach the American Revlutin and I wndered hw I wuld cnnect smething that happened ver 200 years earlier t the students’ lives. As the unit prgressed, I began taxing (收税) a penny t g t the restrm r sharpen a pencil at ther times than the given times. The tax reduced distractins (分心) because students didn’t want t give up their daily reward fr a few minutes f playtime in the restrm. Then, my system tk a sharp turn.
At times, I wuld step aside frm my queen act t give the “clnists” advice. “Think abut what the early clnists did t slve their prblems with the taxes. What can yu d that might cnvince the queen t stp taxing yu?” The unit tk twists and turns (一波三折) that weren’t in my lessn plans, but I let the lessns unfld withut cncern ver everything turning ut a specific way. Fr the first time that year, I saw students pawing thrugh their textbks. One student even said, “This is cl. We are learning and having fun at the same time.”
Thrugh that unit, I realized that if the students culd see hw their input influenced the class, they wuld be engaged.

When yu’re tired ut, the idea f pushing yurself t wrk ut can feel impssible. But a casual walk r stretching exercise might nt seem ut f reach. A new fitness trend has renamed these super lw-intensity (强度) frms f mvement as “zne zer” exercise.
As the name suggests, zne zer training is meant t be s easy that it feels almst effrtless, and it generally refers t any activity in which yur heart rate stays belw half f its maximum capacity. “It’s a new term fr an ld cncept,” which is that any amunt f physical activity is gd fr yu, said Dr. Julia, a sprts medicine physician. Many peple can benefit frm a n-stress apprach, she added, especially if they’re used t “n pain, n gain” fitness messaging that suggests the nly wrkut wrth ding is ne that feels like wrk.
Less active peple may benefit mre frm zne zer. If yu spend mst f yur time sitting, even adding a mdest amunt f mvement t yur day can help t imprve key measures f health like circulatin, bld pressure and bld sugar, said Dr. Eli Friedman, wh directs the sprts cardilgy (心脏病学) prgram. “The peple wh g frm ding nthing t smething get the mst bang fr the buck,” Dr. Friedman said. Over time, he added, mving gradually mre and at gradually higher intensities can imprve yur balance and muscle strength.
Zne zer shuldn’t replace mre intense exercise. If yu regularly exercise at middle r high intensities, zne zer training can be a useful cmplement t yur fitness rutine-but it’s nt a substitute (替代). But n rest days, it can be a wrthwhile frm f active rest r recvery, which can help relieve muscle pain.
Dn’t vercmplicate it. Giving the activities f everyday life a seemingly frmal name may mtivate sme peple-especially thse wh have felt frightened by r excluded frm mre intense fitness spaces. But the key pint is t increase yur daily mvement in whatever way feels manageable and sustainable.
      8. What is a key feature f zne zer exercise accrding t the text?
      A. It causes slight muscle pain.
      B. It requires high muscle strength.
      C. It replaces middle-intensity exercise.
      D. It keeps the heart rate under half f the highest.
      9. What des the underlined phrase “get the mst bang fr the buck” in paragraph 3 prbably mean?
      A. Waste the mst time.B. Gain the mst benefits.
      C. Spend the mst mney.D. Face the mst difficulties.
      10. What is the authr mst likely t discuss next?
      A. Athletes’ prmtin f zne zer.B. Histry f lw-intensity exercise.
      C. Daily examples f zne zer exercise.D. Data f zne zer vs intense exercise.
      11. Which f the fllwing is the best title fr the text?
      A. N Pain, N Gain: Outdated Fitness messaging.
      B. Active Rest: The Best Way t Relieve Muscle Pain.
      C. Zne Zer Exercise: A Substitute t Intense Exercise.
      D. Zne Zer Exercise: An Easy-t-d Way t Imprve Health.

Jsé Saenz and his team at the Fraunhfer Institute fr Factry Operatin and Autmatin in Magdeburg, are develping a rbtic system that can be used in a general recycling centre. The first thing the team’s rbt des is identify any prduct it is ffered. A camera phtgraphs the item and cmpares the pht with pictures f different PCs. The rbt als scans any labels and prduct cdes t check whether service instructins r ther disassembly (拆卸) tips are available nline. Once the identificatin is cmplete, the AI system then determines which parts are wrth remving, either in the frm f raw materials r as cmplete parts t be used again. Analysis dne, the AI creates a disassembly rder t perate the rbt’s arms. These are equipped with a selectin f tls, such as drills, grippers and screwdrivers, t remve and srt items.
S far, the team has gt each stage in the disassembly prcess wrking in separate machines. They are nw linking these tgether int a single rbtic device (设备) able t cmplete the whle prcess.
Once taking PCs apart has been mastered, the team will train rbts t treat ther prducts. The learning prcess will take time. Dr Saenz thinks it culd be five years until they develp a cmmercial disassembly rbt that culd usefully wrk at a recycling centre taking apart anything frm PCs t white gds and televisins.
      12. What des the authr try t shw by listing the figures in paragraph 1?
      A. The severity f e-waste.
      B. The expectatin f treating e-waste.
      C. The danger f recvering e-waste.
      D. The applicatin f e-waste.
      13. Why des the rbt scan labels and prduct cdes?
      A. T take phts f the prduct.B. T srt raw materials and parts.
      C. T find nline disassembly help.D. T create a disassembly rder.
      14. What des Paragraph 3 mainly talk abut?
      A. The tls equipped n the rbt’s arms.
      B. The purpse f develping the recycling rbt.
      C. The wrking steps f the AI-pwered recycling rbt.
      D. The effectiveness f recycling different electrnic prducts.
      15. What is the team ding nw with the disassembly prcess?
      A. Selling cmmercial disassembly rbts.
      B. Using separate machines fr each stage.
      C. Training rbts t take apart white gds.
      D. Cnnecting stage machines int ne device.
