An expeditin team frm the Fungi Fundatin in Chile set ut fr the temperate frests f the Nahuelbutas in May 2023 t retrace the ftsteps f Chilean myclgist (真菌学家) Nrbert Garrid, wh discvered the big puma fungus and described it t Western science in 1988.
They timed the expeditin(探险) t cincide with the exact dates in May that Garrid had hiked the muntains mre than 40 years earlier. “It’s pssible that the reprductive parts f the big puma fungus --- the mushrm--- are nly fadingly visible abve the sil n the same few days each year, which made the timing f the missin a crucial factr,” said Claudia Bustamante, a myclgist and member f the expeditin team.
On the last day f the expeditin, the Fungi Fundatin led a wrkshp and a cmmunity hike t lk fr fungi in a nearby frest. During that hike, tw f the lcal participants fund a grup f abut fur mushrms that all matched the descriptin f the big puma fungus.
The expeditin team carefully cllected the mushrms, leaving the mycelium (菌丝体) in

M: Then I think yu shuld walk arund the Rcks. It's the ldest part f the city, and always crwded with turists f all natinalities, as well as lcal peple. The cafés and restaurants keep very busy. Whenever I g back t Sydney, I enjy sitting utdrs with a cup f cffee, watching the peple passing by.

It's in the Garden Hall and tickets start at nly £8.00, but yu'll have t be early if yu want t get them that cheap! And remember, it's nly n fr thse tw evenings.
Fr thse mre interested in the cinema, yu might like t see the new Canadian film which is shwing n Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm in Cinema 2, and that's called Three Lives. It's had fantastic reviews and tickets cst just £4.50, which is a reductin n the usual price f £5.50. But yu can see the center's main attractin at the weekend, because n Saturday and Sunday, 11 am t 10 pm, they're shwing a wnderful new exhibitin that hasn't been seen anywhere else in Eurpe yet. It's a cllectin f Chinese Art called "Face f China" — that's in Gallery One — and it has sme really fascinating paintings and sculptures by leading artists frm all ver China, and the gd news is that it is cmpletely free, s dn't miss it.
