      I spent three years teaching English at a middle schl in Chngqing, China. While teaching in Chngqing, I had chances t travel all acrss Asia. My adventure t the Gbi Desert was ne f my favrites. My trip tk me frm the rainbw muntains f Zhangye Danxia, t Jiayuguan, an ancient frt (要塞) n the Great Wall f China. I ended at Dunhuang, ne f the central parts f the Silk Rad in the Gbi Desert.
      I did the jurney all by myself. A trip alne meant that I had t depend n my Mandarin speaking skills. When I first arrived in China my Mandarin was nt gd, but I tried t speak t lcal families and children n the trains. They were all very friendly. I had families practicing English with me as well. We all gt ur translatin apps pen when there was an unfamiliar wrd.
      Munt Everest was my last majr trip befre leaving China. I traveled thrugh the grand Ptala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, t the blue Yamrk Lake, befre making my way t the famus muntain with a tur grup. It was amazing t put myself int Tibetan culture and experience the wrld thrugh their eyes. I used my language skills t help ur grup rder fd in the markets and translate int English when ur guide culdn’t find a prper wrd t express smething.
      Physically, the terrain (地形) was unique, and the high altitude and shrtage f xygen made me feel sick. As a result, I culdn’t sleep well at night. I remembered clearly waking up in the night t get my xygen tank (氧气瓶) many times. Hwever, I made it. After three days’ traveling, we finally saw sunset and sunrise at the tp f Base Camp f Munt Everest.
      The whle experience made me fall in lve with traveling, and gave me the desire (欲望) t experience even mre f the wrld.
