An amine is a special chemical mixture related t ammnia. The amines are great at grabbing CO2 mlecules (分子) frm the air and hlding nt them.
T test COF-999, the scientists filled a small tube with the pwder. They then piped air frm utside their lab thrugh the tube fr 20 days. With CO2 in the air utside, hwever, the air frm the tube had n carbn dixide at all! The discvery was exciting fr the scientists. “I see the slutin t the climate prblem right there, in ur hands,” said ne f the scientists, Dr. Omar Yaghi.
COF-999 captures CO2 10 times faster than ther DAC materials. The researchers say that half a pund f the pwder can pull as much CO2 frm the air as a tree can. But unlike trees, COF-999 can capture CO2 even when it’s dark utside. T get COF-999 t release the carbn, it just needs heating t arund 60℃, much cler than mst ther DAC materials, meaning it will take less energy t cllect the CO2. The materials needed t make COF-999 dn’t cst much. Mst imprtantly, the scientists have already tested re-using the material up t 300 times. They believe it culd prbably be re-used thusands f times.
      28. What is the disadvantage f the cmmn DAC methd?
      A. Its safety turns ut unclear.B. It’s cstly and less effective.
      C. Its materials are hard t btain.D. It’s cmplicated t carry ut.
      29. Hw des COF-999 wrk t prcess CO2?
      A. By cnverting it int ammnia.B. By absrbing CO2 with amines.
      C. By releasing it back int the air.D. By reslving CO2 thrugh hles.
      30. What can be inferred frm the COF-999’s test?
      A. DAC technlgy will be replaced sn.
      B. Mre energy is cnsumed during the prcedure.
      C. CO2 is captured merely in the presence f sunlight.
      D. A prmising envirnmental prspect is n the way.
      31. Which wuld be the best title fr the passage?
      A. Amines: Great Materials fr Capturing CO2B. The Imprtance f Remving CO2
      C. COF-999: Game-Changer in CO2 PrcessingD. The Develpment f DAC Technlgy

      【解析】
      【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了新型材料COF-999在直接空气捕集(DAC)技术中高效捕获二氧化碳的能力及其潜在的环境应用前景。
      【28题详解】
细节理解题。根据第一段中“But the current methds f ding this are expensive and dn’t capture much CO2.(但目前的方法成本高昂,而且不能捕获太多的二氧化碳)”可知,常见的DAC方法的缺点是成本高且效率低。故选B。
      【29题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段中“Attached t these balls are lts f “amines (胺)”. An amine is a special chemical mixture related t ammnia. The amines are great at grabbing CO2 mlecules (分子) frm the air and hlding nt them.(这些球上附着着大量的“胺”。胺是一种与氨有关的特殊化学混合物。胺非常擅长从空气中捕捉二氧化碳分子并抓住它们)”可知,COF-999通过胺吸收二氧化碳来吸收二氧化碳。故选B。
      【30题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中“The discvery was exciting fr the scientists. “I see the slutin t the climate prblem right there, in ur hands,” said ne f the scientists, Dr. Omar Yaghi.(这一发现让科学家们兴奋不已。“我看到气候问题的解决方案就在我们手中,”一位科学家,Omar Yaghi博士说)”以及最后一段“COF-999 captures CO2 10 times faster than ther DAC materials. The researchers say that half a pund f the pwder can pull as much CO2 frm the air as a tree can. But unlike trees, COF-999 can capture CO2 even when it’s dark utside.
