Just like s many thers, I have always been aware f the imprtance f wrk in my life. Watching my parents has taught me t apprach wrk with a sense f seriusness and devtin, and t remember its rle in imprving ur quality f life.
Unfrtunately, the demands f deadlines have als shaped my attitude twards my wrk. I feared the cnsequences (后果) f handing in my hmewrk late, since it was mre r less the same as nt handing it in. T avid punishment, I’d submit hmewrk that was partially (部分地) cmpleted but always n time. Learning, therefre, became less imprtant as lng as I managed t avid getting reprimanded.
This attitude increased ver the years, making me believe that averageness “was my limit” f achievement. I thught unriginal essays, prly designed architectural plans, and basic presentatins were what I was capable f.
Hwever, reading Rbert Pirsig’s Zen and the Art f Mtrcycle Maintenance changed all f that. By recunting (叙述) his cncepts f Western and Eastern philsphy during a 17-day mtrcycle trip acrss America, Pirsig helped me identify the effect my attitude twards wrk had n me. Zen helped me realize that I had cnfused my wrk with “prductivity”, since I’d seen the latter being valued mre than high-quality wrk.
Once I made the distinctin, I began t see my activities as an extensin f myself and tk wnership f them. Over the weeks, I wuld still my mind befre every shirt I irned, every sandwich I made and every piece I wrte, and give it my cmplete attentin. The result was that I stpped prducing wrk that was average, and everything I did had a certain riginality and quality t it that I never knew I was capable f.

“I think there is a misunderstanding that large language mdels like ChatGPT are nt very gd at writing,” an authr Sean Michaels says. “In fact, they can d it easily and quite well, just like all the image-generating (生成) sftware can d things like making phts in the style f David Lynch.”
Fr his nvel D Yu Remember Being Brn, in which a pet is apprached by a tech cmpany t c-authr a cllectin f pems with their AI, Michaels created a special type f ChatGPT called “Mrebt”, which thrugh training learned t write in the style f real-wrld pet Marianne Mre.
Althugh sme writers ppse the rise f AI ut f cncern fr their emplyability, thers have put the debate in an lder, brader dialgue n the meaning and purpse f art. Lking beynd the standard definitin f creativity — creating smething new and riginal — Kaufman describes art as any frm f expressin that establishes an emtinal cnnectin between peple.
Even if AI were capable f writing smething emtinal, which Michaels claimed it can, Kaufman wuld refuse t recgnize this as art because it cannt establish a link between reader and authr. “If I read a pem, and that pem mves me,” he said in a statement n AI, “I am in lve with the persn wh wrte it. I can't be in lve with a cmputer prgram. I can't, because it isn't anything.”

This phenmenn was fund by Oxfrd University scientist Richard Pet in the 1970s.Bilgists believe it results frm larger animals using prtectin that many smaller animals d nt use. In the elephant’s case, the making f TP53 is nature’s way f keeping this species alive.
The study als fund that when the same genes were brught t life in rats, they had the same cancer resistance as elephants. This means researchers culd use the discvery t develp new treatments that can help stp cancer spreading r even develping in the first place.
“Nature has already figured ut hw t prevent cancer,” said Jshua Schiffman, a bilgist in the University f Utah. “It’s up t us t learn hw different animals deal with the prblem s that we can use thse strategies t prevent cancer in peple.”

A. Deadly tumrs.B. The huge bdy mass.
C. Cells killing themselves.D. Sensitivity t DNA damage.

A. Larger animals have prtectin frm TP53.
B. The risk f cancer is nt related t bdy sizes.
C. Larger animals suffer the same risk f cancer as smaller nes.
D. The huger animals are, the bigger risk f cancer they will have.
