the title suggests, serving as a lsely chrnlgical guide t human civilizatin thrugh the artifacts we have

I have been in a dwnturn in the past few weeks, largely due t my ADHD (Attentin Deficit Hyperactivity
Disrder) drugs running ut. This has made it hard fr me t imprve mtivatin fr tasks, including the gym. But I
had an epiphany last week nce I finally wrked ut: Cutting dwn n exercise was making matters wrse.
Physical activity may, in fact, be the best way fr me t fight against my ADHD symptms while I wait fr a new
prescriptin (处方)。
My mind is always a bit quieter after a wrkut than it was befre, in a similar way t when I take my
medicatins. This makes sense. Mst ADHD drugs wrk by raising levels f a brain chemical called nradrenaline
This essentially activates ur bdy fr actin by imprving fcus, memry and impulse cntrl.
Levels f it als increase threefld during exercise.
That isn’t t say I am ready t give up my medicatins. Results are mixed in the studies available n exercise
and ADHD. A 2023 review f 106 studies indicated that exercise significantly imprves impulse cntrl, attentin
and the ability t switch between tasks in yung children and adlescents with ADHD. Hwever, it had a weak
effect n regulating emtins and wrking memry. The benefits seem t be even less prnunced fr adults. In
anther study last year,10 minutes f exercise was shwn t imprve impulse cntrl in 82 adults with the
cnditin, yet had n effect n ther ADHD symptms.
While these findings suggest exercise has nly a mdest effect n ADHD, they d emphasize hw wrking
ut has ther benefits in additin t physical nes.
Physical activity appears t be prtective. A 2018 study f ver 1.2 millin adults fund that thse wh
exercised experienced 43 percent fewer days f pr mental health, n average, than thse wh didn’t. The link
was strngest fr team sprts, cycling, and aerbic (有氧的) and gym activities. Exercising fr 45 minutes three t
five times a week als seemed t be the sweet spt. Mre wasn’t always better.
As fr me, I am relieved t have discvered a strategy fr keeping my ADHD symptms partly at bay withut
medicatins. Even thugh breaking a sweat is the last thing I want t d when I am verwhelmed r in a dwnturn,
I nw realize hw critical it is t priritize it.
4. What des the phrase “an epiphany” in Paragraph 1 mean?
A. A new medicine. B. A sudden realizatin.
C. A refreshing break. D. An unexpected pleasure.
5. Hw des physical activity ptentially help with ADHD symptms?
A. It has n effect n ADHD symptms in adults.
B. It imprves physical health rather than mental health.
C. It lifts levels f a brain chemical similar t medicatins.
D. It cmpletely replaces the need fr ADHD medicatins.
6. In the 2023 review, what is the effect f exercise n adults with ADHD?
A. It is less nticeable fr adults. B. It is ineffective against attentin.
C. It imprves impulse cntrl in adults. D. It has a strng impact n all symptms.
7. What is inferred frm the authr’s persnal exercise experience?
A. Exercise eliminates the necessity fr medicatin.
B. Exercise barely helps relieve his mental disrder.
C. Exercise is crucial t managing ADHD symptms.
D. Exercise is nly beneficial when dne in mderatin.
B 5. C 6. A 7. C

But I had an epiphany last week nce I finally wrked ut: Cutting dwn n exercise was
making matters wrse.
Mst ADHD drugs wrk by raising levels f a brain chemical called nradrenaline
This essentially activates ur bdy fr actin by imprving fcus, memry and impulse cntrl.
Levels f it als increase threefld during exercise.

Hwever, it had a weak effect n regulating emtins and wrking memry. The
benefits seem t be even less prnunced fr adults.(然而,它对调节情绪和工作记忆的作用很弱。
故选 A。
Even thugh breaking a sweat is the last thing I want t d when I am
verwhelmed r in a dwnturn, I nw realize hw critical it is t priritize it.

故选 A。
In his bk Slitude, Netta Weinstein a psychlgy prfessr wnders the

The authr suggests that what is negatively described as ne state can be
psitively expressed as the ther. Lneliness, ften perceived as a negative state, can ptentially be transfrmed

In a highly-cnnected digital age, hwever many readers d nt fancy their
chances f ever taking a lng enugh break t have such experiences.(然而,在高度互联的数字时代,许多读者
