These kinds f ready-t-eat fd envirnments typically prvide unhealthy fds and drinks, and have been related t cardivascular diseases, such as heart failure, said Lu Qi, a head researcher at Tulane University in New Orleans.
      Heart failure is a cnditin in which the heart can’t get enugh bld t meet the bdy’s needs. This study is likely the first t evaluate (评估) the cnnectin between fd envirnment and heart failure with lng-term bservatin. “Mst previus researches n the relatin between nutritin (营养) and human health have been fcused n fd quality, neglecting the impact f fd envirnment,” Qi said. “Our present study highlights the imprtance f accunting fr fd envirnment in nutritin researches.”
      Researchers evaluated the cnnectin using data frm mre than 500,000 adults in the United Kingdm. They measured participants’ expsure (接触 ) t three types f fd envirnments — bars, restaurants and fast-fd restaurants. Expsure was determined ‘by prximity (living within 1 kilmeter) and density (the number f ready-t-eat fd stres within 1 kilmeter).
      The study dcumented nearly 13,000 heart failure cases during a 12-year fllw-up perid and the results shwed that participants with 10 r mre ready-t-eat stres near their hmes had a 16% greater risk f heart failure than thse with n ready-t-eat fd envirnments. Thse clsest t the bars (less than 500 meters) had a 14% higher risk than thse wh lived the farthest away (mre than 3,000 meters).

      Edun’s brther, Will, was waiting in the garage, wh wre a camera arund his neck. Will was fur years lder than Edun and had climbed many mre muntains. He’d started hiking when he was tw and lved it.
      Because it was raining, Edun had t wear her rain pants, her rain hat, her rain jacket, and her waterprf bts. Her jacket had a rugh material n the inside. She didn’t like hw it felt against her skin.
      After abut half an hur’s drive, they parked at a trailhead (登山口). The rain had stpped but the grund was still dripping(滴下) wet. “We’ll be there by afternn!” Mm prmised. The afternn sunded far away.
      Will identified a bird sitting n a nearby branch— “Fx sparrw!”—then he raced dwn the trail and was sn ut f sight.
      Edun rested under a pine tree. “Yu can’t frce me t walk,” Edun said. “Yu’re right,” said her mm smilingly, standing under the tree, t, “But yu will never knw what may lie ahead and amaze us.”

S many stars clustering up there, Edun prpsed, “I need t take a picture f them.” “Click!” The camera frze the mment. Radiant with a smile, Edun apprached Mm and hugged her, whispering, “Mm, thank yu fr having me cme!”
