What had the cmpany begun experimneting?
Claire didn' t want the rbt in her huse, especialy as her husband wuld be away n a business trip fr three weeks, but Larry persuaded her that the rbt wuldn’ t harm her r allw her t be harmed.It wuld be a bnus. Hwever when she first saw the rbt, she felt alarmed.His name was Tny. He seemed mre like a human than a machine. He was tall and handsme with smth hair and a deep vice, althugh his facial expresin never changed.

When she first saw him
n the secnd mning,Tny brught her breakfast and then asked her whether she needed help dressing. She felt embarrassed and quickly tld him t g. Nw she was being lked after by a rbt that lked s human, and it was disturbing.
When Tny asked if he shuld help her get dressed
One day. Claire mentined that she didn't think she was clever. Tny said that she must fel very unhappy t say that.Claire thught it was ridiculus that she was being ffered sympathy by a rbt, but she gradully admired his wisdm and integrity and began t trust him. He always treated her with dignity. she tld him hw she was unhappy that her hme wasn' t elegant enugh fr Larry, wh wanted t imprve his scial psitin with a bigger salary. She wasn' t like Gladys Claffern,ne f the richest and mst pwerful wmen arund.
As a favur,Tny prmised t help Claire make herself mre beautiful and her hme mre elegant.S Claire brrwed sme library bks fr him t read, r rather, scan. She lked at his fingers with wnder as they turned each page. Hw absurd,she thught. He was just a machine.

Tny gave Claire a new hairstyle and imprved her makeup. As he was nt allwed t accmpany her t the shps, he wrte ut a list f things that he wuld need fr his wrk n the huse. Claire went dwntwn and bught these things. She had an appintment t paint her nails, then she went int an expensive clthes shp. The saleswman there was rude t her, s she rang Tny and tld him she was being treated badly He spke t the wman wh immediataly changed her attitude. Claire thanked Tny, telling him that he was a "dear" .As she turned arund, there std Gladys Claffern. Hw awful t be discvered by her, Claire thught.By the lk n her face, Claire knew that Gladys thught they were in a relatinship.After all, she knew Claire’s husband’s name was Larry, nt Tny. Althugh it was cmpletely inncent, Claire felt guilty.
When Claire gt hme, she wept. Gladys was everything Claire wished t be. Tny tld her she was being sensitive and was just as gd as Gladys. He suggested that she invite Gladys and her friends t the huse the night befre he was t leave and Larry was t return. By that time, Tny expected that the huse, which was being cmpletely transfrmed, wuld be ready.

Just befre they left, Claire heard Gladys whispering t anther wman that she had never seen anyne s handsme as Tny. What a sweet victry  t be envied by thse wmen! She might nt be as beautiful as them, but nne f them had such a handsme lver.
Then she remembered — Tny was just a machine. She shuted "Leave me alne" and ran t her bed. She cried all night. The next mrning a car drve up and tk Tny away. The cmpany was very pleased with Tny's reprt n his three weeks with Claire. Tny had prtected a human being frm harm when he prevented Claire frm  falling ff a ladder. He had als pened the curtains that night s that the ther wmen wuld see him and Claire, which wlud make them envy Claire. But even thugh Tny had been s clever, he wuld have t be rebuilt — yu cannt have wmen falling in lve with machines.
After the ladies saw Tny hlding her and speaking t her lvingly thrugh the windw. Nbdy had seen such a handsme man...
After she remembered he was just a machine and shuted, “Leave me alne！”The next mrining, a car arrived and tk Tny away...
