      Step 1 Warming up
      Grup Wrk
      Ask Ss t think f the Chinese table manners they knw. Tell them that they can discuss in grups and then share with their classmates.
      Optinal Chice:
      T can intrduce sme Chinese table manners t Ss. Fr example:
      1.Different frm western cuntries, tables in China are usually rund. Nrmally, the seat facing the dr is fr the hst r the hstess.
      2.Befre dinner, yu’ll be served by a cup f tea. Tea is used fr rinsing yur muth, which means making yur muth ready fr eating.
      3. Decide what t pick up befre reaching with chpsticks instead f hvering them ver r rummaging thrugh dishes.
      4. When picking up a piece f fd, never use the tips f yur chpsticks
      t pke thrugh the fd as with a frk; exceptins include tearing apart larger items such as vegetables.
      5. Use serving chpsticks t transfer fd. If serving chpsticks are nt prvided, use the blunt end f yur chpsticks t serve a guest by transferring fd.
      6. Dn’t suck yur chpsticks!
      Step 2 Presentatin & Practice

      Divide the class int fur grups and name them A t D. On the bard, draw fur clumns and label each ne A t D. Tell Ss that yu will read each statement ut in turn. When yu finish reading each statement, yu will give the grup 10 secnds t discuss what their grup answer will be. Each grup will send a representative t the bard t write their answer fr that statement under their grup’s clumn. Repeat this sequence until all statements are read and answered. Mark the answers n the bard and see which grup scred the mst crrect answers.

      In grups f three r fur, ask Ss t discuss sme f the table manners that they fllw in their wn hme. Ask them t share what is strictly enfrced and what is frwned upn. Als get them t cmpare their family’s table manners with general custms.

      stick v. 粘贴; 将刺入,常与in或int搭配。stick还可以作名词,意思是“枝条;棍”。stick t 坚持; 固守, 后接名词、代词或动名词。
      empty作形容词, 意为“空的”, 其反义词为full。empty作及物动词, 意为“使倒空”, 反义词为fill。
      pint at, pint t与pint ut的区别在于:
      pint at指习惯上指离说话人较近的事物, 侧重于指的对象。
      pint t多用来指离说话人较远的事物, 侧重于所指的方向。在事物名词作主语时,多用pint t。
      pint ut意为“指出”,表示给某人指出方向、要点或错误等,属于“动副”结构的短语,虽可跟宾语,但若宾语是代词,须放在pint和ut之间。
