1. Present a short video about volunteers.
2. Ask students to brainstorm What are international volunteers?

3. Read the article and find out some information about international volunteers.

Read the article.

活动二：

Play the tape. Ask the students to listen to it and read after that.

Find out the main idea of the passage and read carefully to figure the main idea of each paragraph..

Read the article after the tape.

1.Divide students into groups and discuss What are international volunteers?

2.Ask students to take part in a group activity and discuss Ways to Help Others as a Volunteer。

1. Ask students to read the words, phrases and sentences in class.

2. Instruct students to collect other words, phrases and sentences from the passage

3. Fourteen Ways to Help Others as a Volunteer

4. Write "Yes" or "No" to the following questions

Can you talk about some volunteer experiences?

Can you talk about the feelings of being a volunteer?

Do you know how to use "it" properly?

Can you read a sentence with correct pauses?

Check  the following voluntary work you can do:

Teach old people computer skills.

Help out at a children's reading group in your community.

Volunteer at a children's welfare centre.

Pick up rubbish in your community or in a park.

Help the elderly buy something they need.

Ask students to collect more information or pictures from the internet about  international volunteers and Ways to Help Others as a Volunteer.
