表语从句Predicative Clause
一、表语从句的定义：
在复合句中,位于系动词之后充当表语的名词性从句称表语从句。表语从句和主语指同一内容，它对主语进行解释、说明，使主语的内容具体化。The questin is wh will d it.可以接表语从句的连系动词有1. be（being, been, am, is, are, was, were)2. seem, appear, lk, feel, sund, taste, smell 3. remain, keep, stay4. becme, get, grw, turn, g, cme, run, fall5. prve, turn ut
二、表语从句的构成：
What I want t say is that I am tired.
从属连词：that / whether连接代词：wh / whse / which / what连接副词：when / where / why / hw / because
系动词+ 引导词+陈述句
that 引导的表语从句 that 仅起连接作用，无意义，在从句中不作任何成分，通常不可省略。这种从句往往是对主句主语的内容起进一步解释的作用。e.g. The truble is that he has never dne the wrk befre.
2. whether 引导的表语从句 连接词whether起连接作用， 意为“是否、究竟、到底”（注意：if不能引导表语从句) 在句中也不作任何成分。e.g. The questin is whether that man will turn up n time.
3. 连接代词wh, whse, what, which和连接副词 where, when, hw, why引导的表语从句 这些连接词除在句中起连接作用外，在从句中还充当一定的成分，本身具有词义。e.g. The prblem is wh we can get t replace her. Guilin is nt what it used t be. That’s where I can’t agree with yu. This is why Sara was late fr the meeting.
4. because引导表语从句通常只用于“This/That/It is because…”结构中。1. I was late. That was ____ I missed the train.2. I missed the train. That was ____ I was late. 3. The reasn _____ I was late was ____ I missed the train.
