Unit 1《HOW CAN WE BECOME GOOD LEARNERS?》Section B▶考点八 find it + adj. + to do sth. (it作形式宾语)  此处是“find it + adj. + to do sth.”句型，译为“发现做某事...”。其中it是形式宾语，真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式短语to learn English。类似的结构还有：make / think / consider / feel等。➩ I find it very interesting to learn English.  我发现学英语很有趣。➩ We find it hard to get along with Tom.  我们发现汤姆很难相处。➩ These good habits make it easier to solve the problem.  这些好习惯让解决问题更容易了。➩ He thinks it necessary to learn a second language.  他认为学习第二语言很有必要。 ▶考点九 感官动词(连系动词)sound的用法  sound做连系动词，意为“听起来”，其后常接形容词作表语。➩ These piece of music sounds beautiful.  这首乐曲听起来很优美。➩ His idea sounds really good.  他的主意听起来确实不错。 【用法必备】1). 常考的五个感官动词(连系动词)look看起来sound听起来smell闻起来taste尝起来feel摸起来 2). 辨析voice/noise /soundvoice多指人说话、唱歌、鸟的叫声以及乐器发出的悦耳的声音。noise多指不悦耳的吵闹声，如嘈杂声、噪音等。(adj.) noisy 吵闹的sound ①n. 泛指人听到的任何声音。② v. 听起来(系动词)▶考点十 word by word的用法  word by word意为“逐字地；一个词一个词地，”是一个副词性短语。其中介词by表示连续反复，意为“(一个)接着(一个)；(一个)又(一个)”。➩ It’s not a good habit to read word by word.  逐字阅读不是个好习惯。【用法必备】关于by的短语one by one一个接一个day by day 日复一日地side by side 肩并肩step by step一步步地 ▶考点十一 patient的用法  patient是形容词，意为“有耐心的”；它还可以作名词，意为“病人”。➩ You must be very patient with her, as she has been ill for months.  你必须对她非常有耐心，因为她已经病了好几个月了。➩ Doctors should be patient with patients.  医生应该对患者有耐心。➩ The patient perfectly recovers from his illness.  病人完全康复了。 【用法必备】     patient adj. 耐心的/n. 病人be patient with sb.对某人有耐心patientlyadv. 耐心地patience n. 耐心impatientadj. 没有耐心的   【小试牛刀】--Why do you admire Miss White so much?  (A)--Because she is __________ with old people when helping them solve problems.A.patient      B.angry      C.bored ▶考点十二 the + 比较级的用法  “the + 比较级..., the + 比较级...”表示“越...越...”。➩ The harder you work, the luckier you will be.  越努力越幸运。➩ The more you practice, the better you can understand.  你练习得越多，理解的就越透彻。 ▶考点十三 secret的用法  the secret to (doing) sth. 译为“....的秘诀”，其中secret是可数名词，意为“秘密，秘诀”。keep a secret / keep secrets 保守秘密。 另外secret还可以做形容词，意为“秘密的，保密的”。➩ The secret to success is hard work.  成功的秘诀在于勤奋。➩ They had a secret talk last week.  他们上周进行了一次秘密的谈话。 ▶考点十四 afraid的用法   be afraid to do sth. 表示“害怕做某事”。➩  The man is afraid to travel by plane.  那个男人不敢乘飞机旅行。【用法必备】辨析be afraid to do和be afraid of doing (难点,了解即可)be afraid to do sth.因为害怕而不敢或没有胆量去做某事。be afraid of doing sth.害怕或担心发生某种(意外)情况。➩ The girl is afraid to go across the bridge.  那个女孩不敢过桥。➩ The boy is afraid of falling into the river from the bridge.  那个男孩害怕从桥上掉进河里。 ▶考点十五 look up的用法   look up表示“(在词典、参考书中或通过电脑)查阅”，后接名词做宾语时，名词放在短语之后或look与up之间均可；后接代词做宾语时，代词只能放在look与up之间。➩ You can look up the new words in the dictionary.  你可以在词典中查阅这些生词。➩  I don’t know the word, so I need to look it up on the Internet.  我不知道这个词的意思，所以我需要在网上查查。 【用法必备】有关look的短语look after 照顾look like看起来像look down on/upon轻视look up to尊敬look back 向后看；回顾 look around向四周看look  for 寻找look through浏览 look forward to 期待  look down向下看look out小心 look at看
